When you build your team around a star who doesn't play defense, you don't win championships.

I think FO realizes this and that's why they brought in D'Antoni to make it look less ty. They know they aren't going to win squadoosh, but they need to sell tickets. Harden could care less about playing compe ive basketball thanks to Adidas.

Wrong actually. You know why stars didn't go to OKC? Because they were not sure Durant or Westbrook were staying. This is a move that helps them next FA.

You can't blame them for locking up an All-Star player, it's a good move IMO.

This. Better than him walking and leaving for nothing.

So with the Harden extension this puts the ball in Westbrooks court. Do you want to be the face of the franchise or not?
If I am Presti I tell Russ,"What they did with Harden I want to do with you". If he says no you trade him. Its a simple as that. Westbrook leaves for nothing OKC only has them selves to blame.

The only big FA that joined harden was Howard and he opted out and bolted

The spurs lured Aldridge last summer despite him meeting with Houston

If I'm a FA, I wouldn't want to play with this guy.

He was kicked out because his body was breaking down and wanted a max deal. They said no.

Melo chose to stay with the woeful Knicks rather than play with Harden

Durbeta didn't even give the Rockets a meeting, after all the talk from homer Rocketfan all year about how Harden was going to recruit him to Houston

Melo chose getting paid, 125 million to play in New York. Plus make plenty of endorsements. He is a businessman. Why would Durant give Houston a meeting when he knew he was going to GS the whole time? Him and James talk all the time. He didn't waste Houston's time like he wasted yours. Are you seriously bragging about being formally rejected by Durant?

Also, if things were to go south, Harden's trade value would be high since he would be guaranteed to stay an extra year.

Nothing you can do about it....Harden is still the best SG in the league..He's just not a real winner though. He's also not a superstar...

Wouldn't be laughing too hard. He passed up on Pop too. And Pop is better than Kerr.
