Can you let Simmons go home too?
Showcase him. Someone will want a guy who dunks and won't even care about the turnovers.

Good point. His deal wasn't on any kind of scale, right?
It doesn't have to be, but it likely is still on the rookie-scale contract he would have gotten had he signed previously (with an increase due to the natural inflation of scale contracts). It's the least they could pay him.

How much does that realistically give in space to make move with?
Almost none, really, though it depends on how much Tim will cost and how big Bertans' deal is. Could be enough to beat a min offer, and that would help them lock down some prospect to a three- or four-year deal.

Well, we won't see SAGirl for like two weeks...

I think this is for the best. I hope LJC starts along with Bertans eventually. I also hope Anderson stays with the team to give them some advice. No one can deny his BBIQ.
Noooooo!!!! Please say it isn't so.

Anyways, I had something clever to make a joke about myself and my fandom, but the site froze my post and I had to refresh and lost my joke. I can't recreate it the same, some of the originality is gone.

So I will skip the joke. I am glad that the Spurs saw what they wanted to see out of him. It will certainly give the Spurs a chance to evaluate the other two forwards and help them improve, as well as guys who may be training camp invites like Cady, Ndoye, etc. You have a good idea, I hope he stays to help them in practice and give advice. It's also a bonding experience with the younger team.

Although they should not be directly impacted by this, I think it will also give the Spurs a chance to evaluate the guards. The reason is, Kyle provides a stabilizing presence as a guy who knows the system and a pressure release valve, plus as Becky mentioned, him communicating helped others know what they were doing or where they needed to be or do. Without him out there, it puts a pressure on Simmons to step up as the veteran and maybe they want to see that as well.

Anyways, SL is still going to be fun to watch.

I'm assuming they play next game, since the Spurs are taking it slow out of respect for Duncan. But the signings should take place tomorrow imo. Pau, then Bertans, than Dedmon. Then the rookies or Manu. In this order or close. My opinion on Milutinov is that the summer spurs bigs have been very underwhelming and the market for quality bigs is drying up, so he might be brought over this year. If he's here, then they must see it as a priority to get him on the court since summer league is about to be over unless we go on a run. I expect Bertans and Milutinov to play next game. But he might have to sign a contract. I have a vague understanding of the cap, but I think we would have to let someone go to fit him in, and in that case who would we let go? Wings like Simmons are easier to find then bigs like Milutinov. Thoughts please.

Yup. That's why I'm trying to get verification on Tim's money. Jeff McDonald was no help - he told me it's fully guaranteed and "assumed" Tim was getting it all. I was trying to explain that it was only guaranteed because Tim opted in but now that he retired SA is under no obiligation to pay and that the money does matter.

BULLS vs Spurs next!!! Should be a good game. Bulls have some good guards, and since Kyle isn't here anymore, I expect Baby Boy to get a lot more touches and try his hand at facilitating with Juice.

I know the Spurs don't read my posts, but I love it when it feels like they do.
I saw a newsreport that he (together with Trey Lyles) were the best players in the Utah SL, and that he was second in VORP. He was clearly the best SL player despite a single scoring explosion by Simmons. Kyle is just steady. Anyways, I could gush about him too much and tire everyone out, but you were right he was too good to have been in SL after Utah... I think on the one hand, Spurs not being able to sign all their other rookies and have them play, made it worth it to give him minutes so that at least someone benefits from the experience. The other aspect is, as he stated in an interview, they had him work on very specific things. He aced that test.

We certainly aren't going to learn anything about him until he starts having to defend and score against NBA players.

There are only a couple of spots remaining, and they're important. Kyle's gone home, so there are minutes to earn.
