Murray has skills you can't teach. IF he puts in the time with Chip and learns how to play within a team concept, he can be very good. His athleticism allows him to do things others just can't. Strange angles, awkward moves, etc..

Bertans started off slow but eventually showed why the Spurs like him. He has great range. I think many of these guys will look better once they are mixed in with the Spurs' vets.

Forbes looked good at times. When he missed, they were good misses if that makes sense. That pretty much wraps things up for the next 2.5 months. See you all in October! NFL is next up.

I didn't initially think Murray would see any time in SA this season, but I tend to agree with you after this game. He showed more passing ability than he has in previous games. I think he will get thrown into some early games.
Especially with Tony, Manu, and Mills all going to the Olympics.

Gotta be a 3, but maybe could play 4 with a small ball lineup? He showed some decent interior D there at the end against a taller opponent, but I really have no idea.

Damn so he's 6'10"? Just looked that up. Didn't realize he was that tall.

Bertans looks to me like what Pop expected from Bonner when he replaced Horry. I think he'd be great in that role, plus he could play 3. There are some nightmare matchups the Spurs could run. Really really tall nightmare matchups.

Good point. And Pop does like to put his guys into sink, or swim situations to see how they'll respond.

He's undersized, but he's pretty solid for an end of the bench big. You just want a guy who can hold a lead long enough for people to rest. He might be perfect for that.
I'm not expecting him to even get a training camp invite, tbh. RC does that pisses me off... Bonner took Jamychal's, Rasual's, and he'll take Jarnell Stokes' spot. I was a fan of all three of them.

He's on a mission to sign Jean-Charles just to prove a point that he didn't draft a dud.

Things ain't looking too good for Stokes.

If only LJC wasn't picked in the 1st round... would make things a bit easier.

Surround Murray with shooters and play pnr or pnp and it's over. If they switch, there's no big on the league that can so him with his quick first step. They would have to play off him date him to shoot. So yeah he needs the mid range game for sure.

Bertans is pretty decent at challenging shots at the rim. Definitely not the first time he showed that type of verticality. But he is just too skinny to defend your average NBA PF. He will get tossed around on the boards and in the low post.

Frankly of this group Bertans shows that he's a pro player with experience at a high level in Europe. He can play right away. Dijon is raw but definitely talented, more than Simmons IMO, specially as a PnR passer, and him and Simmons are too similar and won't jive well, specially with Simmons not shooting that 3. Forbes can shoot and seems to have high IQ. No one else stood out.

LJC needs dleague badly. Cady didn't stand out. Arci is a good game manager but nothing special at anything. I didn't see enough of Hanlan to have an opinion on him.
Bertans is a keeper and a very pleasant, welcome surprise! Dijon showed a lot more game - he actually does have some court vision and passing ability. We will see more of him in SA than I initially imagined. Even LJC looked like he has NBA potential in this game.

That kid develops a reliable shot... Holy smokes!
And if he can eventually develop a reliable 3 ball... I don't have an exclamation remark fitting!

Yeah, I think Simmons is going to have a short rope in camp.
In reality I see Dijon as having a similar role right away, in terms of slashing on the PnR but Dijon has a lot more upside and is already a better PnR passer. Simmons is always looking to get his and doesn't make good reads. Dijon is up and down on his reads, sometimes ballhogging, but when he chooses to pass, they are nice passes, specially the ones he makes to the big rolling. In this game he finished with 9 assists and 2 TO, when did we see that from Simmons? Never. Plus he came up clutch, made plays to win this game.

Defensively, Dijon doesn't have the fundamentals, but just on raw talent and his length he forces TO and makes plays, Simmons fouls ppl instead reaching in. Dijon is a better rebounder already. He could be amazing in a couple of years. Simmons is what he is. He does have more experience than Dijon, and because of that Pop will be less tolerant on him, bc he should know better, but still he will play. Makes me wonder if Simmons play, if we lose this. The last couple of games that he was "the Man" we lost... despite him getting his numbers. I don't know. He was not a winning player in the dleague either. I remain unconvinced by him.

I am with you on Jamychal and Rasual but not Stokes. I hope we can get him to go to Austin and develop a 3-point shot. Then he would be an interesting prospect. LJC will be in Austin most of this season.

That's probably true. Hopefully Bertans looking like a winner, and Murray playing better will make that choice unnecessary.

He can and will play both. He's not going to be pigeonholed into one position.
    That's archaic thought.
