And here, all along, I thought Borowitz was Pulitzer prize-winning investigative journalist. I feel so stupid. Thanks for the heads up (your ass)
boutons, would you just please give me a straight answer. I don't know this author - I admit total ignorance - what I posted is off wikipedia - everything comes up that he's a comedian. But I know what type of man Ben Carson is and he would not have been saying such a thing the day when everyone knew the VP was Pence.

Borowitz writes satire pieces for the New Yorker. BD frequently posts them and has recently started "hiding" the link with font size and color.

Most people who frequent the political forum know this. Since you're a tourist here for the presidential election, it's an understandable mistake

ABC/WashPost Poll: Clinton Losing Ground Among Women

    By
    Sunday, 17 Jul 2016 10:21 AM

Hillary Clinton has a narrow lead of just 4 points over Donald Trump in a new national poll released Sunday.

Clinton is backed by 47 percent of voters nationally in an ABC News/Washington Post poll. Trump is at 43 percent.

But that's a steep drop from a late June version of the same poll. Back then, Clinton held a 12-point lead, 51 to 39 percent.

And while Clinton in June held a 22-percent lead among college-educated white women, pollsters found that demographic is evenly split between the two candidates.

Clinton had a double-digit lead over Trump on handling race relations, an international crisis, immigration and helping the middle class.

Trump has a 15-point edge over Clinton among white voters, while 89 percent of blacks and 74 percent of Hispanics support Clinton.

The ABC News/Washington Post poll, conducted July 11-14, has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.

Art of the spin: Trump bankers question his portrayal of financial comeback

Donald Trump, who often says he only likes winners, tells one grand tale of loss:

In 1990, he nearly went bankrupt and was forced to ask dozens of banks to whom he owed money to change the terms on their loans and forgive some of his debts.

It was, the real estate developer admits in his 1997 book "The Art of the Comeback," the darkest period of his professional life. In his telling, it's a story of redemption, of resilience, and proof of his exceptional negotiating skills and shrewd thinking.

Six people who participated in the loan workout negotiations have a different recollection, raising questions about a key part of the personal narrative that many of Trump's supporters have found compelling as he campaigns to be the next president of the United States on Nov. 8. On the campaign trail he has portrayed himself as a survivor and a master negotiator.

The six bankers and lawyers involved in the talks say the bailout wasn't based on any overture Trump initiated with the banks - and the terms of the deal were dictated by what was best for the banks, not Trump.

Three of the participants say Trump didn't acknowledge he had a problem until his lenders reviewed his books, realized he was on the brink of collapse, and summoned him for debt restructuring talks.

Pence: Disney’s ‘Mulan’ was propaganda designed to lure women into military combat roles

While working as a talk radio host in Indiana, Mike Pence railed against “mischievous liberal” Disney film Mulan in an op-ed in which he asserted that the film was attempting to influence the debate on women serving in the military.

The op-ed, which was uncovered by BuzzFeed News, not only discounts the animated character’s abilities but sexualizes and diminishes her based on her appearance.

“I suspect that some mischievous liberal at Disney assumes that Mulan’s story will cause a quiet change in the next generation’s at ude about women in combat and they just might be right,” he continued.

“(Just think about how often we think of Bambi every time the subject of deer hunting comes into the mainstream media debate.)”

He believes that Mulan’s romance with a higher ranking officer was a perfect example of why women should not be allowed to serve in the U.S. armed forces.

"Tony Schwartz: 'The Art of the Deal' Ghostwriter Criticizes Donald Trump, Says He 'Put Lipstick on a Pig'

“I feel a deep sense of remorse that I contributed to presenting Trump in a way that brought him wider attention and made him more appealing than he is," Schwartz told The New Yorker."

iow, just like the bankers who protected themselves from Trash's financial disasters rather than ignorant-of-his-financial-disasters Trash "artfully dealing" himself out of disaster, Schwartz is saying:

women are already in combat roles, in at-risk combat zones, eg getting injured, blown up driving around in Repug bull , unwinnable wars for BigOil. How is that working out now?

Registering for the draft is not the same being as forcibly conscripted under penalty of prison.

There won't be another forcible draft. It's politically toxic for any politicians who push it.

And a draft is unnecessary now.

Wars now are no longer state-to-state massive ground wars like WWI and WWII, needing Ms of young men to face off as expendable cannon fodder.

Trump Thinking Of Beginning RNC Speech With Sexist Tirade He Was Saving For Special Occasion

NEW YORK—As he made his final preparations for this week’s Republican National Convention, GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump told reporters Sunday he was considering leading off his headlining speech with an exceptionally offensive sexist tirade he had been saving for the perfect occasion.

“Let me tell you, this vulgar, chauvinist rant that I’ve been keeping in my back pocket for months now is one of my best ever,” said Trump, adding that he could never waste such an incredibly insulting diatribe against women’s intelligence and individual agency on an ordinary stump speech.

“I’ve worked hard on this; it belittles women’s efforts at equality, repeatedly objectifies them, and really puts them in their place.

You know, maybe I should hold onto it — it would be perfect to throw in Hillary’s face on election night, or even at my inauguration. It’s so, so fantastic.”

At press time, sources confirmed that Trump had decided to debut the derogatory tirade alongside a “really incredible” new epithet for Mexicans in his opening remarks at the first presidential debate.

You distort and post incomplete statements attributed to Trump yet you speak about intellectual honesty.
Be happy to supply context, and clarify anything you think is an outright distortion.

Name an example. Unlike you, I care about the truth, and am willing to be as intellectually honest as possible.

    Yes.

    and

Yes, although I don't have any daughters.

My platoon sergeant was an excellent NCO. Found out she is buried in Arlington, and married her "roommate" after "don't tell" was lifted, and she lived in a state that allowed same-sex marriages.

    I don't buy it!

The Art of the Deal is the second best book ever written -- second only to the bible!

Someone less talented than Mr. Trump couldn't possibly have written it.

Trump sees himself as a leader, not a reader

There’s a memorable scene in “The Simpsons Movie” from 2007 in which President Schwarzenegger is told there’s a crisis in Springfield. His aide presents him with five folders, each of which includes a different response. Schwarzenegger can’t be bothered to review any of them.

“I was elected to lead, not to read,” he said before choosing folder #3 without opening it.

Four years later, in November 2011, Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain was pressed to explain his incoherence and alarming ignorance about international affairs. Cain not knowing details isn’t important because, as he put it at the time, “We need a leader, not a reader.”

Now, life is imitating art once more. The Washington Post reported today that Trump doesn’t much care for reading, and while he has a variety of magazines on his desk – each of which has Trump’s face on the cover – the Republican candidate does not have shelves of books in his office or a computer on his desk.

He said in a series of interviews that he does not need to read extensively because

he reaches the right decisions “with very little knowledge other than the knowledge I [already] had, plus the words ‘common sense,’ because I have a lot of common sense and I have a lot of business ability.”

Trump said he is skeptical of experts because “they can’t see the forest for the trees.” He believes that when he makes decisions, people see that

he instinctively knows the right thing to do: “A lot of people said, ‘Man, he was more accurate than guys who have studied it all the time.’”

The article added that Trump believes he “absorbs the gist of an issue very quickly,” leading him to skip past long do ents. He also apparently

intended to read some presidential biographies – since he’s, you know, running for president – but decided he didn’t have time

“NATO RIP”: Journalists Horrified By Trump Waffling On Security Guarantees

Media figures across the political spectrum reacted with dismay and disbelief after The New York Timesreported that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump “called into question whether, as president, he would automatically extend the security guarantees” to members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) if they were attacked by Russia.

In a July 20 interview with the Times, Trump “said that he would press the theme of ‘America First,’ his rallying cry for the past four months, and that he was prepared to scrap the North American Free Trade Agreement with Mexico and Canada if he could not negotiate radically better terms.”

Trump also suggested that he would not honor America’s treaty obligations to defend members of NATO from attack:

He even called into question whether, as president, he would automatically extend the security guarantees that give the 28 members of NATO the assurance that the full force of the United States military has their back.

For example, asked about Russia’s threatening activities that have unnerved the small Baltic States that are the most recent entrants into NATO, Mr. Trump said that if Russia attacked them, he would decide whether to come to their aid only after reviewing whether those nations “have fulfilled their obligations to us.”

Several journalists have do ented the close ties and apparent affinity between Trump and Russian president Vladimir Putin.

Republican pollster Frank Luntz turned to Twitter late Thursday night to predict that the Republican National Convention would propel Donald Trump ahead of or near Hillary Clinton in the polls within a few days.

"Mark my words," Luntz tweeted, "This speech will put Trump even or ahead of Hillary in polls by Monday, when the Democratic convention begins."

Luntz's prediction came after Trump formally accepted the Republican nomination for president in his Thursday-night speech.
