That is Chair Priebus opening the convention.

Such a turnout is sure to lead to the bounce GOPo s were hoping for.

Rocky opening for GOP convention as Cruz forces clash with team Trump

The Republican convention appears to be facing a rocky opening both inside and outside the arena – inside, from forces loyal to Ted Cruz mulling a procedural fight and outside, from anti-Trump protesters testing the demonstration rules set by the city.

Party Chairman Reince Priebus formally kicked off the convention Monday afternoon, setting in motion a packed day of speeches and official party business including the platform itself.

But on the sidelines, multiple high-level GOP sources in Cleveland told Fox News that officials loyal to Cruz – led by former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli and Sen. Mike Lee of Utah – have been bargaining with the Republican National Committee and Donald Trump campaign over procedural changes they failed to secure in last week’s Rules Committee sessions.

Coming as some anti-Trump delegates still are trying to mount a rebellion on the floor, the Cruz camp is seeking its own changes.

Those forces want to revise the rules that will reward states with closed primaries -- and for the RNC and Trump camp to allow Cruz’s name to be placed in nomination from the convention floor.

For the latter to occur requires certain numbers of delegates from eight states, written signatures and more – and the Trump campaign can move to frustrate that effort if they wish.

I'm watching the "stop Trump" movement protest rather loudly. It makes me wonder how many actual Trump supporters are in the building at the moment.

Even if that is the case they are likely to de in the convention rather than kept outside. There are more people outside protesting Trump then there are inside the building right now.

He was touting it as being a showbiz convention. Seems like the release for The Last Airbender.

Chaos erupts on GOP convention floor after voice vote shuts down Never Trump forces

CLEVELAND — Chaos broke out at the Republican National Convention after Republican leaders blocked a full floor vote on the convention rules.
Critics of Donald Trump had attempted to force the vote and submitted the signatures they believed were necessary to do so, but after holding a voice vote on the rules, Rep. Steve Womack declared the rules approved and moved on.

Womack left the stage amid an uproar, only to return to the stage moments later for a second voice vote. He again declared that the 'ayes' had won, again to protests from the crowd.

Forcing a roll call vote requires support from the majorities of seven delegations. Anti-Trump delegates submitted what they said were a majority of signatures from at least 9: Colorado, Washington state, Utah, Minnesota, Wyoming, Maine, Iowa, Virginia and Washington, D.C. The also claimed that Alaska had provided signatures as well.
But Womack, after the second quote, claimed three states had withdrawn, against blocking a roll call vote.

The anti-Trump delegates opposed the rules and hoped to vote them down in the roll call vote. Their ultimate goal is to get a new set of rules that allow delegates to vote against Trump even if they are pledged to him based on the results of their state's primary or caucus rules, though they appear unlikely to have the votes to do either.

Forcing a vote on the rules would have temporarily thrown the convention into a lobbying frenzy, with delegates hoping to deny Trump the nomination work to convince a majority of the convention’s 2,472 delegates to reject the party’s rules and adopt new language that would help them sideline Trump.

Even if they'd likely have lost, the Never Trump delegates wanted a vote to display the lingering anti-Trump sentiment in the party — likely from hundreds of delegates — at a time GOP leaders and the Trump campaign are struggling to project unity.

At this point, dimwit, you should realize that such claims from you should come with a link or nobody will really buy it. Not saying its untrue but youre notoriously stupid and unreliable.

    Meanwhile,

CLEVELAND — Donald Trump’s team came to Ohio and declared war on Gov. John Kasich — an approach top-ranking state GOP officials say hurts Trump's chances of beating Hillary Clinton in this crucial swing state in November.

Kasich, a Republican and Trump’s former presidential rival, has steadfastly refused to endorse the real estate mogul, even as the Republican National Convention kicks off in his state. Monday morning, Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort accused Kasich of “embarrassing his state” for declining to get behind Trump, making that charge on MSNBC and reiterating his criticism on several other morning shows.

In an interview with POLITICO, Ohio GOP Chairman Matt Borges sharply rebuked Manafort, suggesting that such comments make it less likely that Trump will carry Ohio, a critical swing state where Trump's contest with Clinton is very tight so far, according to the polling averages.

“He’ll need to do better if we’re going to carry Ohio in the fall,” Borges said.

Ohio is one of the few bright spots for Trump on the battleground map, and Trump is heavily reliant on the Kasich-aligned state GOP for a ground game operation here, making an open war between the two camps even more problematic.

But on Monday, tensions boiled over into the open.

“All along, we’ve been looking for a more unifying message coming from the Trump campaign," said Borges, a close ally of Kasich’s. "And then he came to Cleveland this morning as we’re lifting the curtain on one of the crown jewels of the Republican Party and the effort we had in Ohio to bring this convention here, he decided to go in a direction that was obviously calculated — he did it on all the shows — and he’s factually incorrect.”

The insurgents had the states to roll call the vote but Priebus and co lobbied a few states to get them to withdraw.

The dems superdelegates system is certainly undemocratic but GOP leadership has a stranglehold. They cannot even get rid of Priebus and he's been chair for decades at this point.
