I don't think women should have to sign up for the draft but I believe they should be allowed in military combat roles if they want to be and can prove they are able.
BAR OFFICIALLY CANNOT BE LOWERED
MINNEAPOLIS — A group of scholars who have been monitoring the descent of the bar over the past few decades have concluded that the bar can no longer be lowered, the scholars announced on Friday.
The academics, led by Professor Davis Logsdon, of the University of Minnesota, published their conclusion after their research definitively found that the bar had finally dropped to its lowest possible position.
“For those who thought the bar still had room to be lowered, our findings resoundingly contradict that assumption,” Logsdon said. “The bar is now essentially flush with the ground.”
Logsdon acknowledged that he and his fellow scholars have come under fire in the past for claiming that the bar could not be further lowered,
specifically when they issued a paper to that effect after the selection of the Republican Vice-Presidential nominee in 2008.
“We got that one wrong,” he said. “Clearly, the bar still had a way to go.”
Now that the issue of whether the bar can be further lowered has been settled, Logsdon and his colleagues plan to examine the question of whether there is anything left to scrape at the bottom of the barrel.
“Our findings are preliminary, but it appears that the answer is no,” he said.

In early May, .... the GOP candidate called in to Fox News to take a literally unbelievable shot at Ted Cruz.
“His father was with Lee Harvey Oswald prior to Oswald’s being – you know, shot. I mean, the whole thing is ridiculous,” Trump said.
“What is this, right prior to his being shot, and nobody even brings it up.
They don’t even talk about that…. I mean, what was he doing with Lee Harvey Oswald shortly before the death?
Before the shooting? It’s horrible.”
Offered an opportunity to walk it back the next day, Trump refused. The JFK-related story was in theNational Enquirer, Trump said, so it shouldn’t be dismissed out of hand.
This morning, Trump, joined by running mate Mike Pence, hosted an event with supporters in Ohio, where the presidential hopeful decided to return to the story about Ted Cruz’s father. Vox posted the jaw-dropping transcript:
“All I did was point out that on the cover of the National Enquirer there was a picture of him and crazy Lee Harvey Oswald having breakfast.
Now, Ted never denied that it was his father…. This was a magazine that frankly, in many respects, should be very respected.
They got OJ, they got Edwards. If that was the New York Times, they would’ve gotten Pulitzer Prizes for their reporting.
I’ve always said, ‘Why didn’t the National Enquirer get the Pulitzer Prize for Edwards, and OJ Simpson, and all of these things?’

This is just an excerpt, by the way, Trump kept going, including another riff on the National Enquirer’s “credibility,” which the candidate considers impressive.

Call me old fashioned but if I'm in a burning house and injured, I'd rather see a male firefighter come through that door than a female one. Yes, I expect my husband and over 6' son to protect us - my pe e 5' daughter wouldn't even be able to climb over that wall in that movie An Officer and a Gentleman. If a woman wants to join, sure, go ahead, but I don't think think they should have to sign up for the draft.

Maybe you missed the part where I said that if a woman wants to join, go ahead. I have no problem if they WANT to go. I do have a problem with forcing women to sign up for the draft.
