He will have more power in the Senate than he would as a potential vice president.
Kaine is a pretty versatile guy. Plus she trusts him. In fact, he's a safer choice than what Pence is for Trump. With Pence, people confuse safe with boring.
He will have more power in the Senate than he would as a potential vice president.
Also loved in a much needed swing state!
Yeah, it's hard to compete with his record. Only people who will dislike this is the really far left.
Establishment candidate picks establishment running mate. Yawn. Wake me up when this show is over.
It's a weak pick and makes for a very boring ticket. Considering her favorability ratings Hillary needed someone exciting and positive to overshadow her a bit. She hardly generates any excitement at all and when she tries to sound "inspiring" it comes off as forced and hollow. She's just not a good orator that can make that connection with people. And Kaine isn't that person either.
Don't even know who this guy is, tbh...
How is this a weak pick?
He essentially checks all the boxes required.
Well liked by his peers among the senate
Good reputation among moderares and liberals
Not a warhawk
Potentially delivers her Virginia on a silver platter
Safe is good in this case. Specially when you compare Pence and Kaine's record.
Kaine Is Anti-Abortion, Risks Losing Feminists
He is, but votes for choice
pretty much.
I was surprised she didn't choose the Castro got. i figured this was either Warren or a hispandering move.
Castro would've been a great pick, even if I don't particularly love the guy. He's at least somewhat charismatic, another thing Shillary completely lacks.
A defensive, safe pick. Fluent Spanish speaker, Catholic, Midwestern upbringing, popular in Virginia, moderate positions.
Her likely path to 270 now includes the following swing states:
Wisconsin (she has a healthy lead, and WI Conservatives don't like Trump)
Pennsylvania (historically goes blue despite being talked up as a swing state)
Virginia (Demographics + Kaine)
Colorado (Demographics + healthy lead)
Nevada (Demographics)
If she wins these, it wouldn't matter if Trump won OH, FL, NC, IA, NH - all states where he currently trails her in poll averages.
Like Hillary, he's BigFinanace stooge
Tim Kaine Calls To Deregulate Banks As He Campaigns To Be Clinton’s VP
He’s also actively pushing bank deregulation this week as he campaigns for the job.
Kaine signed two letters on Monday urging federal regulators to go easy on banks ― one to help big banks dodge risk management rules, and another to help small banks avoid consumer protection standards.
Kaine, by contrast, is setting himself up as a figure willing to do battle with the progressive wing of the party. He has championed the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal that both Sanders and Warren oppose,
The big bank letter would help major firms including Capital One, PNC Bank and U.S. Bank, all of which control hundreds of billions of dollars in assets. Such large “regional banks,” Kaine writes, are being discriminated against based solely on the fact that they are so big.
On the small bank side, Kaine pressed Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Richard Cordray to exempt “community banks and credit unions” from new rules. Doing so would leave these ins utions, which include banks with up to $10 billion in assets, more lightly regulated than they were before the financial crisis.

BigFinance gets their man.
Hillary's choice exposes her fraudulent claims to be progressive
Tim Kaine Has a Troubling Record on Labor Issues
Hillary Clinton’s VP pick is a well-regarded senior Democrat, but he has split with labor on the TPP, banking regulation, and even “right-to-work” laws.
“Kaine has supported Virginia’s right-to-work law since he ran for governor in 2005, and his campaign says that position has not changed.”
Yet Kaine has a history of breaking with labor and progressives on economic issues—to such an extent that headlines refer to the senator as “a Democrat Wall Street can like.”
He has argued for looser banking regulations and was a leading advocate of granting fast-track authority for the unpopular Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal.

So the Real Terror screwing Americans is fully supported by Kaine.
progressive who gets things done? This guy is a progressive? Or does she just throw this term around?
she and Kaine aren't progressive where it counts: bowing to capital as it screws labor.
Wow, the speech Tim Kaine is giving is the best speech I've heard all week
Great, great choice Hillary
Introduction to Tim Kaine was a success.
Unlike Pence, who was introduced by Trump while "You can't always get what you want" by the Rolling Stones was playing![]()
That was a of a speech
to trump?![]()
I think Trump is closet anti-abortion - but he's not running on social issues. It's all trade and immigration for him - well, add in "law and order."
not even a matter of his views on abortion... Trump has never stopped short of degrading women in general when given the opportunity. trump getting the feminist vote is more laughable than getting the hispanic vote
My comment was not on women or feminist - it was purely an abortion comment.
