bout time
Would've liked him as the fifth big.
Is the Spurs minimum contract the new Kobe? No one seems to want it anymore.
Amazing during Tims 2003 le run where he blazed through the league that Amare was just a rookie and the "future" of the league at the time.
Injury created a ceiling where otherwise there may not have been one.
It was really a damn shame.
Doubt he ever had the "it" factor to lead a team, but the arsenal of shots, moves, he added as his body betrayed his athletic ability lends to reason he could have been unstoppable on offense.
His pre-Carmelo time with the Knicks proved he wasn't just a creation of Nash.
But he sucked on the boards and on defense. Never understood how someone with his athletic and physical gifts could barely average 8 boards a game.
Had the 2007 draft gone right, Suns would have added Noah alongside him. That would have been pretty ideal.
Oh well.
They're flat eared here about him not coming back & retiring.
I saw thatsuns fans never disappoint
I always wonder what Amare could have been with a real coach. He was a shotblocking machine in high school but Pringles taught him to not give a on that end of the floor.
Yep, Media tells them how to act/react and they toe that in' line.
His mother was a terror around the Metro area. She'd show up whenever/wherever he'd be doing a "commercial" and want a hand out. And if she didn't get it, she'd yell the "N" word and they'd give her the hand down, toot sweet. Like Amy around the Alamo, she'd show up 1/2 pregnant smootching & looking longingly in stinkpot's eyes looking for a Polaroid moment.
Word? He blocked the outta kids a foot and a half shorter than him? DAMN! Just imagine if he that good good coach.
Not true, remember when the Suns fan above you disappointed in Nam?
With his size and athleticism he should have been an elite defender and rebounder.
They were selling your .
If only you would have put up that kind of fight against the gooks.
His parents were selling his
And had he been able to play PF and not C.
Not sure he had the instincts on defense and rebounding he had for offense, but coaching likely factored in heavily here before injuries.
Oh well.
They should have a specialty version of the board game Operation for him.
Holy so many injuries.
This. but before injury he was like Kemp 2.0 and had really developed in to a great offensive player.
Obviously I wasnt a huge fan of the Suns of that era but he was young beast.
Never thought his hoops IQ was high but a truly gifted athlete who became a pretty complete offensive player.
He was phenomenal.
Amare owned every AAU tournament he took part in. He wasn't just elite vs scrubs.
With almost no skill but with effort, Amare as a rookie was as good a rebounder as he'd ever become. BB is correct in talking about system. Adjusted for pace, Amare averaged more rebounds as a rookie under Frank Johnson, than any other season as a Sun (tied with 2007), or anywhere else.
Imagine if that had been nurtured and emphasized?
A lot is his fault. He could have given better effort regardless.
But D'Antoni literally didn't give a .
Never forget
R.I.P to a major got both on and off the court
No doubt and he was to good of an athlete not to be a better rebounder and had the lateral quickness to defend pnr.
I dont know much about him but he did NOT seem to bright in the traditional sense or hoops IQ wise.
He was a highly skilled uber athletic phenom who developed his skill on one end.
If eh was a better passer He could have been what Cwebb should have been and like I said above a 2000's version of Kemp.
Oh well still a great offensive player but his window of great was shorter than it should have been ...
I didnt even know NBA players did that (retired as a X).
But what difference does it make? Saying Amare will remembered as a Knick is like saying Shaq & Penny will be remembered as Suns.
