I don't know how intelligent he was. Pre injury Amare was one of the most explosive athletes ever, not just because of athleticism, but because of instincts. He saw spots on the offensive floor and knew before most what he would need to do to score the basket.

He wasn't Hakeem, which was the perfect blend of smarts, instincts and athleticism, but if he got the ball in 2005, you were shocked if he didn't score or get fouled off the dive or drive.

After the knee injury you saw the instincts, because he was able to continue to score efficiently despite decreased athletic ability. He saw angles very well.

Even as he devolved into mostly a jumpshooter, he found the open spots within his range.

How does this translate to rebounding and defense?

I know know, but Amare should have been a 12-14 RPG type big. He just shoulda been.

Would've liked him as the fifth big.

Is the Spurs minimum contract the new Kobe? No one seems to want it anymore.
It's Jarnell Stokes' spot to lose.

Considering David Lee was a double-double machine w/ a 8'10" standing reach & inferior athleticism then Amare should have at least averaged 10+.

    Never forget

R.I.P to a major got both on and off the court

And to think, an asshole that nearly ended another player's career had the audacity to call Bruce dirty. That he did to Bogut was 1,000 times worse than any of Bruce's on-court shenanigans.

Incredible athlete and very good offensive player, but he had some ass tendencies on the court.

Just saw that he's going to play in Israel next year for a team that he co-owns.

Immediately becoming Ghazi 's most hated player, tbh
