If there is no one to control who runs for president, there is no way to prevent more than two from running.The idea that congress could essentially pick the president every time probably wasn't a concern for the founders, given that similar things already happen with parliamentary governments.

What they didn't anticipate was that the president and VP could have politically dissonant views under the original system (and that them having these views would present a problem). But they fixed that with the running mate system while leaving the rest of the system in place. Remember, there have been two times in history that the half-senate has decided the POTUS, so it's not like people don't know what could happen.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is about to be out nearly $1 million after he lost a lengthy battle with a famous auction house.

TMZ reports that Abdul-Jabbar has been ordered to pay $900,000 to Julien’s Auctions after a deal between the auction house and Los Angeles Lakers legend went south in 2012. Abdul-Jabbar believed the auction house was supposed to sell around 400 items for him, and he decided to physically remove the items himself in 2014 when they weren’t sold.

After that incident, Julien’s sued Kareem. They won. Here are some more details:

Julien’s sued Kareem — claiming they also made a $300k donation to his foundation as part of the deal to sell the items — but he refused to refund the money when he backed out of the sale.

The case went to arbitration … and Kareem lost.

Now, he’s been ordered to pay more than $900k in damages PLUS interest and attorney’s fees. He’s also been ordered to return all the items he took.

Darren Julien, the president and CEO of Julien’s Auctions, told TMZ it is “unfortunate” the courts had to get involved. He claims the company did everything it could to reach an agreement with Kareem before filing the lawsuit.

We haven’t really heard much from Abdul-Jabbr since he made these bizarre comments about LeBron James a couple years back. I’m sure this isn’t the way he envisioned his name getting back into the news.

179 houses in my hood in SA conservative voting district. Last election Romney signs up all over. Scattered Obama. Well over 1/4 of the houses with Romney signs. This year 2 Cruz signs and 2 Trump signs 2 Bernie signs Zero Clinton.

Now... 1 Trump sign. That's it.

I am thinking this is a year no one wants to admit who they are voting for or will not vote. One guy in our neighborhood would actually go down to our voting station and wear a Republican Elephant mask for the most minor elections. He has always had Republican candidate signs for every Republican at every level of politics in the most minor elections. His Cruz sign came down way early. His lawn is totally devoid of any signs.

Have you told anyone you don't know well (face to face) you are voting for Trump?

I will Discuss nada during business, conferences, trips....even though last election everyone had an opinion. This year is strangely silent between acquaintances. Bizarre stuff I tell the board. The mute virus is rampant between acquaintances.
