Last night, before the friendly game against Croatia, the Argentina Basketball Federation honored Manu with the following video:
For our non-spanish speaking posters, here's what's said during the video:
This story
That's a love story after all
Didn't deserve to have this ending
Or this other one,
So unfair,
So full of pain and melancholy,
This story still had a pending chapter,
Or many more,
Because truth be told,
There are stories that never end,
There are players, men and legends,
That live forever.
Welcome Manu,
We were waiting for you,
Or better said, we never stopped waiting for you,
Because why would we wait for you,
If you never really left,
Here, have a blank paper and a pencil,
You write the ending you want,
Destiny,
That unpredictable writer that sometimes becomes romantic,
Has given you the opportunity you were waiting for.
Without waiting,
Because perhaps it knew that your smile,
Yes, THAT one,
It's our smile.
We'll see you in Rio

And here's Manu watching this next to the bench:

Nocioni and Scola were also honored in other games, here are the videos and if you guys are interested in translations, let me know.
emotional indeed... Part of the reason why I wanted Manu to come back for another season is because I didn't want his departure to be lost in the shadow of Duncan's...
San Antonio is missing Campazzo...
It seems the theme was taken from the video of the Spurs Tribute - "The Beautiful Game (Part 1)". Even the score music.
That shade at the San Antonio Spurs though
Thanks for posting (both video and transcript).![]()
Official. Manu takes us to another![]()
Bronze medal, ring and then he retires
Do you see other teams giving him tribute knowing this might be his last season?
very touching tribute
Manu played what will most certainly be his last game on Argentine soil. During a post game interview, he became emotional and had to be silent for a few seconds before continuing the interview. Tears ran down his cheeks as the crowd sang "Ole, Ole, Ole, Ole, Manu, Manu."
(Argentina defeated France 86 - 79. Manu scored 15 points playing 17 minutes.)
wow very emotional, can anyone translate some of it I know there is a lot of shouting in the backround
Damn stop with the vids...
I still remember traveling to Buenos Aires to see them play more than once. The Uruguayan audience while playing a friendly with a standing ovation for Manu, Nocioni but an even bigger one to Scola after they were being subbed in a blowout against the home team... That kind of respect I've never seen for any adversary (especially from Argentina) in Uruguay TBH. Only these guys command that type of respect worldwide.
Our countries should merge tbh
Has Argentina honored Missi?
