Porker deserves a "good riddance" tour, or maybe a " off" tour. He definitely shouldn't get a farewell tour.
Don't let TP play the last 4 minutes of any given game, and I can live with him being a starter.
Yeah, he is pretty bad in the clutch to be honest.
Best guard on the team, and it's not really close tbh
We did pretty good when he either couldn't play or played just the 1st half of a series closeout games. We actually won both of those series and eventually the championship...
Jordan Farmer who signed with Memphis at the end of the season was the only worse PG than Parker last year in the NBA...
Not an indictment of what Tony's done in the past. I'm not one of these "Porker" goons. I just think he does hero ball and gets exploited on D and is an overall negative value when the game is on the line. I don't mind taking what he can do during the run of play the rest the time when the team needs someone to push pace or be able to create his own shot.
I'm rooting for TP to shut the haters up. He'll retire a Spur and I doubt he'll ever come off the bench.
And we'll never win again as long as that's the case!
2012 Leading Scorer Parker = WCF
2013 Leading Scorer Parker = Finals
2014 Leading Scorer Parker = Championship
2015 Leading Scorer Kawhi = WCR1
2016 Leading Scorer Kawhi = WCSF
So? Who gives a about that? He needs to play for the team.
Now which way is his efficiency trending? I rest my case.
i don't think it's so much that tony parker is still good enough for the spurs... it's that the spurs are good enough despite tony parker.
Unfortunately what we really need from him is his biggest weakness. Given the abundance of post players, it is important for him to be able to hit open shots from long ranges. A weakness on his part obviously. And the previously mentioned decline of his speed as well obviously plays a big factor as well.
Parker is still decent. I don't place blame on him. He's still better at this age than avery Johnson ever was even in AJ's prime. I put the blame on Kawhi being too passive and shutting down when things weren't falling for him. I hope Kawhi grows mentally stronger over this off season
That Parker mid-range jump shot is worrisome since he seems to miss them quite a bit when he goes into hero ball mode.
so glad we have someone better than avery johnson to compete with curry, westbrook![]()
After this year, we might be able to have Westbrook on the team. Kawhi is the answer for now. If Kawhi ever adds 3 or 4 inches to his vertical he could be unstoppable with his jumper improving every year.
part of the problem with parker is how he freezes kawhi out sometimes. it's embarassing. and doesn't make it any easier for kawhi.
It's a BIG part of the problem. If the Spurs expect Leonard to create his own offense, he needs the ball before there's 3 seconds left on the shot clock.
Thats not saying much tbh...
Never seen a bigger crock of repeated at ad nauseum. Tony Parker literally took at huge backseat for Kawhi and LaMarcus to take the reigns, but they were complete chicken s at the end of games against OKC. The offense is ran through them, they take a majority of the looks, yet the failings of the offense falls on Parker?
That makes absolutely no sense and Tony needs to continue to play a balanced game of scoring/passing while defering to Kawhi/LaMarcus. They need to in turn make their shots and remain aggressive or the offense/team is ed just like last postseason.
Side-note: Parker is at the age where he should be a backup, but the Spurs options are far too limited for that just yet. Finding his successor should be priorty #1, 2, 3 and 4 although I would like him to stick around as a mentor/6th man.
