There were about half a dozen threads here on SpursTalk speculating that Westbrook would join the Spurs next offseason. This piece of news effectively nullifies that.

I'm happy about this as a basketball fan. While this is likely so he can hit FA again as a 10 year vet (higher max contract), it's great to see him try to run it back and prove something next year. Will be hard to cheer against him when he's not playing against the Spurs.

Talk about loyalty, a lot of NBA fans would question Westbrooks's personality, but his loyalty and bravery are on display here.

i don't see someone from golden state getting it because they have too much help.
then there's lebron. i won't make an argument against him but some voters will (undeserving so) give too much credit to irving.
then there's kawhi & westbrook. westbrook is carrying the load. unless the spurs have the #1 overall seed voters will think "he has aldridge, he has parker (

i respect his loyalty. Gonna be difficult to win when your main guy shoots as bad as Westbrook does from the field, but they might be a playoff team. He almost got them to the playoffs a couple years ago when Durant missed most of the season.
I think they drop more than one spot considering they lost their best player...we'll see.
