I've never been more infuriated watching any Spurs series than I was for that game.
And whats worse is that we got more of that taste this past year in games 2 and 5. Very frustrating

Hmmm...this is the same dude who brought us the malice in the palace. This put one of the darkest clouds on the NBA in the last 20 years. And now this bitter retired idiot has been is running his mouth, and for what? Get over it, I thought his comments were more of an indictment on Pop than TP....
me too. All the chat here is interesting but he clearly said the Tony comment was based on a perception. The Pop comment though was a statement attributed to Pop admitting mistakes in coaching or changing his mind on the guys he played.

I don't doubt he had certain perceptions that Tony was a snake but so was SJAX. They say snake recognizes snake though.

Yea. Both freaking home games too that we should have won. It makes it tough to want to keep watching tbh. After the Game 2 debacle, I thought there was no way they'd be that ignorant and do it again. Then 5 happened.. I feel like in 2012, they didn't even try to hide it, because it was call after call after call...... after call.

Makes me appreciate 2014 so much more since it involved beating OKC, and knowing they couldn't be saved, although the officials tried with Ibaka's obvious missed goaltend call on Manu's layup.

Every time I want to bury Parker I just remind myself to recall Games 1 and 6 of the Heat series I.

His clutch shots won game 1 and gave SA that 5 point lead in game 6.

But articles like these make it very hard for sure.

Why do people care what a former player - that burned bridges on every team he played on - has to say that hasn't been in the locker room for 3 years now? He's just upset that Tony, Tim, Manu and Pop created a legacy that he was only a blip on.

He just runs his mouth and says anything to remain relevant in the media.

I wouldn't be surprised if he s on Kawhi, Danny & Manu in the future since they essentially took his spot. Enjoy retirement and stop bad mouthing former teammates, SJax.

Pop isn't perfect, of course I am sure he has regrets after games. I think any coach/player does. Hindsight is always 50/50 but as a coach you tend to go with what has worked.

With Pop, his relationship with the big 3 is so strong that it's not uncommon for him to go with them and ride it out. I mean, they've done so much for his career, and he's definitely loyal to them, and maybe to a fault sometimes, sure. But those guys have earned a bit of leeway imo

Can't take anything seriously coming from Jax's mouth. This is the same guy who refused to say Duncan was better than Kobe in an interview with Bill Simmons last year. Going by the logic of the idiots on this thread we should all agree with Jax when he says Duncan was on Kobe's level but not better than Kobe.

S Jax was the more consistent Spur in those loses to OKC and I'm sure that was frustrating but his comments really are most offensive to Pop. He's suggesting Tony manipulated Pop into losing a series just for stats. It's easy to forget context, but Tony was the Spur's best player that year and a fringe MVP candidate. S Jax wouldn't have been able to compete for a conference finals were it not for Tony.

I really didn't love that team as the Spurs needed a wing player and Kawhi was too young. Of all the Spurs greats I like Tony the least but he could ball, especially that season. We also should remember the NBA was transitioning to a more position less small ball switch everything defensively league. This series was proof of how effective that concept was by negating Tony with defenders bigger than him. The Spurs lost that series over four games not one half.

As for Tony's character, I doubt Laker's fans care about Kobe being an ass to teammates or Bulls fans care about Jordan punching teammates. Without Tony the Spurs would be missing a few banners so I could care less.

And let's be real, if the Spurs advance Lebron would've eaten a rookie Kawhi/S Jax alive. Especially considering Lebron hadn't gotten a chip yet. The Spurs just weren't a championship team that year bottom line.

So I wouldn't doubt for a minute what he says, plus it's not like everybody in here can't already tell Tony, for a long time at least, was all about himself, the celebrity... It's very public he backstabbed a teammate, something people like to quickly put under the rug...
SJAX ain't so innocent either, he's done a lousy job pretending to be humble during the latter of his career. I think he's jealous of what Parker has accomplished with the Spurs. SJAX is also smart enough to know that nobody in the Spurs organization would touch on what he had to say during some interview.. so in his mind he can say whatever he wants and get away with it.

The only thing I'll give him is he performed well as a spot up shooter for us in '03 and that his comments on TD is the truth. "ULTIMATE TEAMMATE"

As much as I liked Stephen Jackson, he is really going out like a desperate crybaby .. Mad at another "hero" because he wants to be the "hero".. Dude's seriously delusional. Of course Tony is going to have a different relationship w/ Pop, he's basically Pop on the court.

sj Jackson also said he could only play for pop and that year he ended up in Atlanta with less of a deal then spurs offered
sj also hated he had to give minutes to manu
pop also showed him the door when spurs could not get a replacement for the playoff one because HE thought he was better then anyone else
    that is true hero ball

Always been a fan of SJ, and really was never a huge TP fan...but this annoys the out of me. Putting out terrible vibes on a team that's still competing for championships with TP as their starting PG. Put out a book or something once the Spurs are done competing with TP as the PG. Now this info is available for the media to ride whenever it's convenient, and everyone in that locker room for sure heard or read about it.

Not to mention this is gonna make the Parker haters even worse...guess that means 100 TP bashing threads a day?
