Great news for Porker fluffers. Now they have another Argie to blame every loss on.

I tend to agree with this assumption but i think Garino can do a bot more than our traditionals (Bowen, Udoka, Green, Butler) 3-D guys.

He has a bot more upside on offense than those players.
The more I watch him, he reminds me of Landry Fields who was a solid role player for the Knicks before he went to the Raptors & his career ended.

Dude might actually be a rotation player in the league
Rotation like 6th man/eventual starter ? Or rotation like he made the active roster?

Took a peek at the Argentine Crotia game. Not impressed. Seems to be unable to stick to his man. When he misses he misses really badly!

He has a long road to go before even making the Spurs team.

Garino's hustle on loose ball situations has been impressive. He's a pretty important piece to Argentina's team.

He's a poor man's Kawhi on that aspect. Great D, great hustle, rebounds, steals, out of nowhere blocks, loose balls gets. He's basically the only responsible for Argentina's defense being below average, on the last few years, to pretty good right now.

Pato put on his hard hat and went to work. A more worthier project than forbes, ljc, etc. Solid effort, good defense, plays smart and within a system. Keep it up pato. A great platform for patfo to evaluate him further. Pop has to be impressed so far.

I suppose because he's older (23 for having just graduated college) and he played in a weak conference, for a run of the mill NCAA team with no hype whatsoever and no accolades other than defense. He didn't even start shooting the 3 until his senior season, and just to give you perspective Anderson was 22 this past season and could have been a college senior himself the entire season. (At age 20 he had already accomplished more in NCAA than Garino did at 23 and he did it in a tougher conference. Dijon at 19, while wildly inefficient also had produced more in college play in a tough conference, and was a kid.) It's all perspective. In comparison with guys his own age, Garino didn't stand out.

    These are Garino college stats:
    Career Stats

Per Game Team G GS MPG PPG RPG APG SPG BPG TOPG PFPG FG% 3P% FT%
    12-13 GW 30 30 26.9 8.8 3.4 2.1 2.3 0.4 2.6 3.0 .427 .286 .648
    13-14 GW 26 14 28.7 12.1 4.4 2.0 1.6 0.8 2.0 2.5 .561 .343 .593
    14-15 GW 35 35 31.6 12.4 5.3 1.5 1.7 0.8 2.5 2.3 .531 .296 .735
    15-16 GW 38 38 32.0 14.1 4.2 1.5 1.4 0.8 1.9 2.6 .510 .430 .689

As you see they are solid but nothing spectacular, specially for a 23 yr old (competing against guys much younger in college).

This was him in Summer League:
Date Opponent Result MIN FGM-A 3PM-A FTM-A OFF DEF REB AST STL BLK TO PF PTS
    Jul 06 vs NYK W 95-90 33 3-8 2-5 6-7 0 2 2 2 3 1 1 3 14
    Jul 04 at DAL W 92-85 29 5-10 2-4 0-0 2 4 6 5 2 0 3 5 12
    Jul 02 at CHA W 79-74 29 3-8 1-4 3-4 1 1 2 3 1 1 2 6 10

The good news is that those teams he played for in SL were winning. But just compare that to some other drafted kids who are much younger already producing at a more impressive rate.

He's got roleplayer potential basically, a limited ceiling, but he's the kind of player that Spurs like to find and may fit into their system. Who knows? He may have gotten drafted in the second round but the Spurs didn't have a pick (the traded it for Ray Mac this past season).

He is one of those guys that do all the little things that helps a team win, but is never noticed by the casual fan, because they are always looking for ppg. Pop is smart enough that this guy could be a difference maker in the right lineups. Mario Ellie was this type of player.

Mario Elie, Jerome Kersey, Brent Barry, Bruce Bowen.

So many players that did stuff like this and never got recognition but were irreplaceable to try and win a championship.
