In a few days you will see the 4x1 relays, each country with their 4 fastest sprinters teaming up. Would ya believe in 1932 the USA brought in a team only there to run the 4x1? None of our 100m sprinters were on that team. No Eddie Tolan , no Ralph Metcalfe, no George Simpson. Yep, we won anyway. That is depth.

In 1960, Wilma Rudoplh won the Oly 100, then ran the 4x1 with her Tennessee State 4x1 teammates. Yep, a college team representing the USA, that was a first and it's never happened since.

Would ya believe we have to go back to 1964 and Ivy Leaguer (Dartmouth) Gerry Ashworth to find a white sprinter on a USA Olympic 4x1 team?

The first all black 4x1 team to win an Oly gold was in 1968. The team of...

Mel Pender Army (was suppose to run on that 64 team, injuries did him in)...all 5-5 of him.

If Eulace Pea hadn't been injured in 36 and we'd took 200m medalist Mack Robinson (older brother of Jackie) and put him on that 3rd leg, them along with Oly gold/silver medalists Jesse Owens, Ralph Metcalfe. That would have been the first great all black 4x1 teamin of all places Nazi Germany.

If you saw the movie...RACE. You saw Eulace Pea mentioned a few times. Being the movie was about Jesse Owens they didn't tell the real story.

Pea totally owned Owens at 100m, he beat him five times in a row and had a 7-3 advantage. And if not for an injury he would have beaten Owens in that Berlin Oly 100m. And, he had also beat Owens in tthe long jump, but I do doubt he beats him again, Owens was a great long jumper. It's very realistic to see Pea winning a gold in the 100m, a silver in the long jump and a gold in the 4x1 relay. But because of an injury...............................

Eulace Pea (August 27, 1914 - December 13, 1996) was an American track and field athlete in the 1930s.
Born in Dothan, Alabama and raised in New Jersey, he became a rival to Jesse Owens in many sprinting compe ions. He broke the high school record in the long jump the same day it was bettered by Owens. "I had that record for two hours."^[1] He attended Temple University in Philadelphia where he became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. Pea won the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) outdoor pentathlon championship six times, in 1934, 1935, 1937, and from 1943 through 1945.^[2]

He was a sprinting prodigy, who bested the notable prodigy of his time, Owens, on several occasions.^[1] After pulling a hamstring muscle, he was unable to qualify for the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany.

In 1942 he served in the US Coast Guard; in later years he opened a liquor store and a car-rental business. He stayed connected with athletics by officiating at championship events and Olympic qualifying trials. He has been honoured by a number of athletic bodies, including the National Track and Field Hall of Fame.
Eulace Pea died of Alzheimer's disease at age 82 in Yonkers and was interred in Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, NY.

Well...George Blanda was in a position to do all of those things. He did score by field goal, PAT, rushing and passing. He also caught a pass and did some returns.
Of course this was including AFL.
