Damn, and you're the biggest DePalma fan on here. I like it a lot for its look and tone, but it could be shorter.

Probably the one I agree the most with is Forrest Gump, I never understood how that became a classic.

There are no movies that are universally considered great that are terrible.

Citizen Kane has been called the greatest movie ever, as we know it's not. But it is a good movie and hardly terrible. The only terrible movies are the terrible movies.

I can't think of any great movie (seen um all) that was actually terrible. All those Japanese/Chinese martial arts movies are terrible. All those Italian strong man movies are terrible.

This was terrible.




The thing is there really aren't all that many great movies.

Casablanca
Lawrence of Arabia
City For Conquest
Streetcar Named Desire
The Theif of Baghdad (silent)

And a handful of others is about it.

Yep, and I've even went back a couple times to confirm it. & Welles "The Magnificent Ambersons." Both are insufferable. Welles was juiced in for some damn reason.

I loved this one too. But I don't think it's on any top lists.

The music in that movie and the situations presented were outstanding. The rather bizarre slapstick was wonderful. That's one I continually go back to for specific scenes. The look of perplexed boredom on Napolean's face was fantastic. The characters were terrific. It's a good flick for those of us who appreciate kids at that age surrounded by boredom. And the interaction with quirky adults was solid humor. The naivety of all associated with the machine Uncle Rico ordered by mail...
