Last of the big hitters sites 24/7 now saying Swoopes likely to start:

To begin detailing a situation with plenty of layers to it, I’ll start by noting that even though my sources have continued to tell me Buechele has been at least even with Tyrone Swoopes if not having outplayed him throughout fall camp it sounds like Buechele might not be the starter when the Longhorns open the season in 12 days against Notre Dame.

24/7 reporting DE Quincy Vasser worked with the TEs today and QB Kai Locksley worked exclusively with the WRs for the first time.

"Ty Barrett stayed close to home to attend TCU but he's no longer with the program. "

He is still at TCU, just a RS Soph and expected to get PT at RG.

Do we really even need to recruit another WR, two of our QBs are now full time WRs, maybe what we need is more QBs

    Need a real qb developer.

Nobody can turn a 5 star QB into a scrub like UT.

    This isn't 2010.

    New OC
    New QB Coach
    New HC

And our last coaching staff didn't have a problem with Major Applewhite, Chris Simms, Vince Young, or Colt McCoy

Who? Heard was a 4 star. Brewer.... Swoopes...?

The above being stated we have clearly not found a diamond in the rough.
And I think Alabama has done a pretty good job at f ups before Saban decided to think about throwing with their current OC.

We may have one, but for some reason we're apparently trotting out the same loser yet again.

    Meh...4 star 5 star...same difference almost

So in just one month you've given up on your 4 star qb.

Yeah sorry, I don't have confidence that UT is grooming any qbs for the pros any time soon.

Meanwhile kliff is 3 deep at QB and has two more he groomed playing at OU and Cal that might be pro material.

Not bragging for Kliff as much as I'm saying that's just inexcusable for UT

Strong is a defensive minded coach Kliff is a QB coach. Kliff sucks at producing a good defense, Strong sucks at coaching QBs. It's not surprising that Texas has struggled to produce a good QB. Strong relies on a assistant coach to develop a QB and to recruit one that can be great. Kliff relies on a DC and defensive staff to produce a good defense. Strong knows good defense and how to make one great, Kliff knows good QBs and how to make one great.

Do you see where I'm going with this.

Gary Patterson is a defensive minded coach. He hired a kid from the Leach family tree to coach his QBs.

Bob Stoops is a defensive minded coach. He hired a guy from the Leach family tree to coach his QBs.

And Strong hired a guy from the Briles family tree, so yea, I do see.

And remember, Stoops started the Leach Family tree as Leach was his OC the year he won the MNC.

Strong inherited a program with zero QBs, It would have been nice if Swoops were a better prospect or Heard for that matter but both were guys that were extremely raw, good athletic ability but just not passing QBs.

The fact that SB can come in as a true freshmen and push a senior and cause a junior to change positions tells you more about the two upper-class QBs than the freshmen.

Now with that said, It is all on Strong that he decided to bring in Watson as his OC when he was a failure at both Colorado and Nebraska. No one was more pissed about this than I was. I was already concerned about Strong taking over a program like Texas as he might be a bit over his head, but Watson almost proved my point.

At this point, I still say the jury is still out on Strong, but we shall see. If he isn't the guy you can bet Herman is available as a replacement.
