2. Carson's Future
The future for Texas 4-star commit Lagaryonn Carson continues to be cloudy. After solid performance in Weeks 1's loss to Gilmer (3 sacks, 3 TFLs), Carson was riding high. Weeks before, he went to Austin in front of the UIL board pleading for another year of eligibility, which was granted by a 5-4 vote, he stopped by the Texas facilities to visit with the coaches and players.
The Texas staff said he looked great, and even hung out with Malik Jefferson and sat in during the defensive team meetings.
"Seeing the coaches and Malik was great," said Carson. "Sitting in the meetings was really cool. You see how the program works from the inside." Carson was trending up.
Then late last week, he mouth and temper got the best of him. After an argument and disrespecting his defensive coordinator at Liberty-Eylau during a practice, LE coach Steve Wells had no choice but to suspend him. It was reported by Carthage broadcasters and another site that he was kicked off the team. That's untrue.
At this point, Carson needs to make amends with Wells and his DC. Those coaches have gone out of their way to keep Carson on the straight and narrow when at times Carson didn't give them a reason to. He needs to apologize in front of the team, and make things right, especially with Wells.
At this point, his suspension could be lifted this Friday or a month from now. All I know is that Carson is a kid that needs serious direction. He takes two steps forward, one step back. He's exactly the type of kid that needs Charlie Strong in his life. Carson needs Texas more than Texas needs Carson.
UT is going to stay by him for now. For how long, that's anyone's guess. Here's hoping that trend line starts back upward.
Haven't been ranked since losing to BYU in Week 2 of 2014.
Knee-jerk for sure.
We'll have a good idea of where Texas is at once they play the Oklahoma schools back-to-back.
I still have us 8 or 9 wins right now, after the OU game we will know more for sure.
I am thinking that we are 3-2 after the OU game now though, which is better than 1-4 or 2-3 haha. I just don't want to get my hopes up just yet.
How big was the Nelson and Ford recruiting Strong's first year? Both those guys played solid on Sunday nights game.
I'm thinking the exact same thing as you. Stillwater is a tough place to play and Oklahoma will be a wounded animal by then. I'm thinking wins against UTEP and Cal, two close losses then they thump Iowa State to go 4-2.
With that said, I would not be surprised or disappointed if the Horns went 6-0 instead. Just don't want to get to far ahead of ourselves.
AP Poll has Texas at #11.

11 is way too high at this point.
Coaching hot seat board is updated.
Miles/LSU take the #1 spot followed by Malzahn/Auburn.

If you can beat OSU and OU, then I think that ranking is justified.
I think the coaches' poll has it right.
Wow...not sure how to feel about that. Feels like disappointment waiting to happen.
McMurphy from ESPN had UT at #6.
Guy is smoking crack...let's play a few more games first, broseph.
UT may have shot their wad for all we know.
If UT beats OU and OSU then they deserve a top 10 ranking and that would not be debateable.
I'm down with it. Houston has so many stud players they produce that leave for "big schools" like Ohio State. If they can keep their players home? They can compete with anybody in the country IMHO.
The whole state of Texas produces 5 star recruits. For example, imagine if Adrian Peterson stayed home and paired with Vince Young!![]()
They got a QB and a good offensive coordinator now. We know eventually Chuck F'n Strong will have the defense dialed up.
These last few years saw us get behind and not have enough fire power to keep us in games. This put tremendous pressure on the defense.
This might not be a problem anymore. We'll see.
From 24/7...
-OL Adrian Ealy of Gonzales, LA is not a take for LSU at this time. Texas is making a push and he also likes OU plus Miami.
-UT is still pursuing ATH Paulson Adebo of Mansfield. The staff likes him at CB.
-DE Earnest Brown of Denton Ryan is now considering making an official visit to UT.
after nd win disappointed texas all access was canceled
