ITT Technical Ins ute will cease all of its academic operations, eliminating most of its 8,000 employees effective today, after the government last month banned the for-profit college chain from enrolling new students who receive federal aid.
“The actions of and sanctions from the U.S. Department of Education have forced us to cease operations,” ITT’s parent company, ITT Educational Services Inc., said. “We reached this decision only after having exhausted the exploration of alternatives, including transfer of the schools to a nonprofit or public ins ution.”
ITT Technical Ins ute is facing accusations from its accreditor of chronic mismanagement of its finances and using questionable recruiting tactics. The parent company is also under investigation by state and federal authorities. ITT, which as of this spring was the fifth-largest for-profit college chain by revenue, says it runs more than 130 campuses in 38 states. It recently had about 43,000 students nationwide.

University of Phoenix, I'm down with Everest
is Career Point still wasting peoples money?
go into debt thousands of dollars to be placed in a job that pays less than most San Antonio call centers
thanks Career Point

Don't they at least train nurses though? That's a pretty viable career unlike being a Starbucks barista with your ITT Tech degree in electronics.
ITT Tech, Kaboink, Ditech, and Career Point. IGIA air freshener machines, and the Nautilus sleep system. Also watching the sneak-preview channel before it scrambled at 8 o'clock, and sneaking out of bed to watch American Pie whenever it came on HBO. Being 6 years old in 2000 was fun.
They had to change their name because of legal troubles. NIT. LOL
The Art Ins ute looks sketchy to me but I've never really heard anything bad about it.
Maybe medical assistants or nursing aids, but that's all. And tbh, those are easy enough jobs to get without a lick of education if you have no problem wiping ass for minimum wage.
How does this affect the students? You know everest, itt, university of phoenix and all thise other ty private schools are barely accredited...I feel bad for the students tbh..Or naybe its good for them..these colleges are a total ripoff
I never understood why anyone would enroll in a for profit private schools..we have them over here in canada too, they usually get you ty 13 dollar per hour dead end jobs..95% of them are not credited too and they charge more than Public universities..I shake my head when I see their students..im like lol I make more money than you and I dont have my degree yet...I guess not everyone is qualified to get into public schools.
Is it really hard to get into a public university in the US? I know in canada, unless you were super bad in HS..you would be able to get in provided you pass an entrance test.
I took an entrance test and i thought it was some 9th grade ...but many people surprisingly fail i guess...But seriously no way..
CDI college, Robertson college.always lol when I seem them trying to recruit students

is ASU one of these ty colleges too? I have a friend who just started there (online) and keeps bragging about being in school again to everyone![]()
"we train for a fulfilling career in billing and coding!"
10k of debt
"but you get to brag to people that you went to school"
starting 'salary' 10.00
3rd day on the job you realize your life and 'career' suck
applies at Bill Millers
Back in the day, I thought I wanted to do something in the music business so I checked out Art Ins ute of Dallas. They advertised like a 90% rate of job placement in the industry. It was crazy expensive and my parents weren't going to go for it.
Anyway, not too long after, I talked to someone I knew who went there. His job placement "in the industry" was running a projector at a movie theater.
Right out of high school I almost went to the Art Ins ute of Chicago. Decided against it and now a friend of mine that went does special effects for movies.
So it's really probably somewhere in the middle and depends on how driven your are and how good you are. The guy I knew wasn't a friend so I didn't know much about him. But I could see him being a dumbass.
But nowadays, you could learn just about everything you wanted to know about music production without having to spend that kind of money. But also I suppose making a career also takes having the right connection.
Special effects for movies seems like something that might be hard to do on your own.
At least in Canada they can apply at Tim Horton's and have free doughnuts all day until they're 65 and retire.
Dang. A LOT of money flowed in and out of that place. As a former TV advertising sales guy, I can tell you that ITT was an "elephant" to bag for local advertising. They spent a ton of money. Everybody fought for their business. And that's just one industry. Quite an economic ripple when a place like this shuts its doors.
These types of schools give an opportunity to make something of oneself. Maybe they should have had stricter enrollment and retention standards, but they were great for those who have talent in the fields they offer.
Today's diploma mills
The Art Ins ute is legit.
Can't speak for any other schools but UH doesn't accept ITT credits and I can't imagine we are out of the ordinary in that regard. Or most any of the for profit guys. Our admissions counsellors least favorite people to handle, even worse than helicopter parents whose kids got denied, are people from these schools who got sold the line about how these places were every bit as good as a community college and their courses are accepted by four year schools.
What's the big deal you were born with a pussy...;-)
