Donald Trump is still a birther: He said Obama is a U.S. citizen “to get on with the campaign”

Less than a week after (we thought) he'd definitively declared Obama a U.S. citizen, Trump says he was just kidding

No chief executive at the nation’s 100 largest companies had donated to Republican Donald Trump’s presidential campaign through August, a sharp reversal from 2012, when nearly a third of the CEOs of Fortune 100 companies supported GOP nominee Mitt Romney.

Mike Pence Just Gave The Dumbest And Most Dangerous Answer Of The Entire Campaign

When asked how Trump's plan to profile immigrants would work, Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Pence gave an answer that was both incredibly dumb and dangerous to the country.

"Well, I think it’s all about common sense.

Donald Trump and I talk to law enforcement officers every day on the campaign trail, and I’m proud that my running mate and I have been endorsed by the largest police officers union in the United States, three hundred and thirty thousand strong, Fraternal Order of Police, but talking with law enforcement officers, they’ll tell you that today they feel like

they operate in an environment of political correctness

where they can’t use common sense to target their resources and target their energies against individuals who would be most likely a potential threat to our families and the safety of our communities.
    "

O’Donnell asked Pence if profiling can violate rights. He answered, “Well, of course, it can,” and then talked more about the importance of common sense.

under Donald Trump, the “common sense” of the president overrides the cons utional rights and protections of the American people.

Gov. Pence’s answer wasn’t just idiotic.

Pence expressed a form of idiocy that presents a danger to fundamental individual rights that are the backbone of the republic.

Trump's outright lies in one week—31—a generous undercount

The New York Times has clearly turned a corner on its Donald Trump coverage, now fully embracing the word "lie" to describe the geyser of falsehoods that gush from him. Between Sept.15-21, its reporters counted what the paper called his "Week of Whoppers" and found 31 biggies. But that was clearly a generous undercount.

    This total excludes dozens more:

Untruths that appeared to be mere hyperbole or humor, or delivered purely for effect, or

what could generously be called rounding errors.

Mr. Trump’s campaign, which dismissed this compilation as “silly,” offered responses on every point, but in none of the following instances did the responses support his assertions.

Among the 31 that made the cut, Trump most frequently lied about his Iraq War position (five times) and mischaracterized Hillary Clinton's (and President Obama's) immigration policies (four times). Here's one example:

He said Mrs. Clinton is calling for “total amnesty in the first 100 days,” including “a virtual end to immigration enforcement” and for unauthorized immigrants to receive Social Security and Medicare.

In other words, Trump’s desperate need to be right (about the war) and his efforts to rally racists and xenophobes to his side dominate his lie-fests.

Next up: The Times should try counting how many truths Trump actually tells in any given speech. If you take away his outright lies, his exaggerations and hyperbole, and his policy pronouncements that are clearly impossible to accomplish (i.e. deporting 11 million undo ented immigrants), my su ion is that his lies would consistently outnumber his truths in any given speech.

    UPDATE: The Trump lie-o-meter continues

One of you amateur legal experts needs to explain this "scandal" to me. A judge ordered a charitable donation to settle a complaint. That donation is tax deductible. He transferred funds from one charitable foundation where he had already taken a tax deduction. The transfer of funds from one charitable organization to another was not tax deductible, so it only got deducted once. Why would the IRS care?
