The story of Haitian ruler Henri Christophe a fantastic read.

Histories first 26 foot long jumper was a Haitian soccer player named Silvio Cator, the year....1926.

The great sprinter Bruny Surin was born in Haiti, but moved and ran for Canada.

Of all the places I could visit, Haiti is one of them.

When Tommy Johnson talked about selling his soul for guitar prowess at them crossroads it wasn't with the Devil, (as some like to tell) it was with Papa Legba a Haitian God.

The place is going to be in a different kind of shambles than it normally is. It could actually become more organized based on the chaos theory.

What's the legal poking age there, 6? You'd be a shoo in. I could imagine you taking a cue from David Carradine in some dank closet with that size 56 belt you wear.

Won't be nearly as bad for them as they haven't cut down all of their forests like Haiti. Check it out from google earth pretty amazing how different the land looks.

I'm supposed to fly to Miami Sunday, hope this passes before.

WTF did Haiti do to the universe to deserve the luck it has? Shoulda been a big-time country. Now, even rolls away from it.

Oh well, get ready to hear another round of "We Are the World".

That's why you never poach your trees.

Blame the western backed corrupt politicians.

They're ed...We had hurricans very similar to this..and man, the difference between cities and provinces without trees in terms of casualties and infrastrcture loss is astronomical.

I remeber visiting the philippines a few years ago and our province was hit with an ugly hurricane...Zero casualty...just a few flooded farms etc.

Hurricane moves to a logging provnce two days after but in a somewhat wekaned state..causes major landslides, floods and human casualty.

You dont cut your trees..if you're gonna cut trees, you better replace that or you're ed.

I've always wondered this too. If there is a god, he's been prison sexing Haiti since the beginning of time.

If you've ever been around a large Haitian population for more than an hour then you know this Hurricane is for the best.

They got royally ed by the the West after they won their independence. You'd think that with the Monroe Doctrine that the US would support the next country to gain their independence. But nope. Couldn't set a precedent of supporting slaves fighting for their freedom. Because everyone hated them, it didn't take much mismanagement for their economy to crumble.

It might be even more African than any nation in Africa. I bet even people in Somalia would rather stay where they are.
