I don't buy league pass since they black out local games.
I think preseason is free, but we may need someone else to confirm. I just canceled mine a couple months ago. Like you said... too many blackouts and I live in El Paso!

The preseason games are never broadcast locally. Also I would buy league pass if I could watch local games instead of paying for cable to watch them.
I'm doubly screwed since I'm in a blackout area, yet I don't get a local channel showing the game. Freaking stinks...
Im from Cali and I still don't get any Spurs pre season game. I have NBA League pass for past 5 years at least, this year for some reason NBA League pass channels are not available yet. The only nba channels I get now are NBATV and NBAHD. I called Direct tv all they can say is Preseason games are not included. Sucks!
I don't know what the blackout rules are going to be for you, but I pray they aren't like they were for me where I missed 1/3 of their games, most of them near the end of the season.
I'm into alternatives now.
I get Kings blackout in my area. I am located in between Warriors an Kings area and I get all Spurs game. I tune in to local channel to view Spurs vs Kings or I go to the game.
