Over DG TBH? He just brings a different dynamic to the starting lineup. He just brings so much more offensively than DG and that's just refreshing. (Yes I K of its only 1 game.)

No, even if Simmons puts it together, he needs to be Manu's successor..

Putting him in the starting lineup removes his best trait, which is creating off the dribble, since he would be playing with Parker, Kawhi and Aldridge..

No. He is a dynamic bench player. His edge off the bench is his athleticism over other bench players. He just owns them. Every team needs a player like Simmons who can come off the bench. LMA and Kawhi can score enough without him starting games.

He looks more like a Spur than ever (no celebrations after a score) and his defense looked much improved too.

No ing way. He's inconsistent. Green's defense is too important. Simmons can rip bench players.

I think that plan will go the same way having Bonner succeed Horry did. Simmons can't run the point. He had a lot of success tonight because he was NOT in that role for most of the game. His turnovers started when he was at the point in the 4th quarter.

His defense was very attentive, and he was in good position. So was Mills, btw.

Just picture Danny Green being in everytime Kyle was.. and the spurs suddenly look even better than they did already. He needs to stay on the bench, where he has opportunity and is surrounded by players who will give him easier shots. He had a great game. Like pop said.. "he just scored 20 points". I agree.the points didn't matter. It was him playing within the system. Attacking when he should, bench doesn't have enough of this. Taking open shots.. does matter if go in, shoot them confidently. Kyle which is his main minute compe ion is horrible at this, and stagnates the offense.

Hussling, and playing defense. These things are what he can do, others can't, and what makes him so valuable on the bench. 6 ppg would be good from him. The intangibles are what matter most.

I loved the energy off the bench from Patty, Simmons and Manu..it's a nice contrast from the starting lineup's slower pace..

    Of course not.

Hopefully Simmons starts looking like this more often though. It would be really huge because the Spurs really need guard depth.

    This.

Those two dynamics will be hard to gameplan for. It's a like a curveball/fastball. Most teams stay with their iden y when they go to the bench, but the Spurs bench present a totally different look.

It's why wanting any of the bench players to start is re ed (i.e. start Patty Krew).

I agree. With LMA and Claw on the frontline you don't need that scoring punch. Once Verde comes back it becomes moot but early returns are he deserves more minutes than KA.

Looking forward to this lineup off the bench:

    C: Dedmon
    PF:Bertans
    SF:Simmons
    SG:Manu
    PG:Mills

    Only a matter of time.

Simmons spending 6 hours a day in the gym in the off-season looks to have paid off -- at least so far. Hopefully he can remain efficient on O and be disciplined on D and carve out a consistent role.

No. We'll need as much offense from the second unit as we can get once DG comes back and Fathead returns to the bench to stink it up.
