Dedmon looked totally lost on offense last night. Those dunk attempts were painful to watch, but I did like his D. He is athletic. I'm hoping he improves on the other end. His awareness needs work he messed up the spacing a couple times.
His hands are like Nazr Mohammed's hands... very fumbly, fumbly... but he has good rebounding instincts, so that is a good thing.

You are probably right in that Lee is no game changer. But West did look very bad this game, he was committing bad fouls, just overall, not good.
    So basically he was himself

Absolutely. Was great having bigs off the bench that could actually ing rebound. Dedmon is on offense, but that guy can crash the boards and plays decent defense at least. Was nice watching West get on all night

His ability to defend the PnR in space and defend the rim is an auto upgrade on West, no matter what he does offensively.

    I agree, yes

True, but Lee is solid and doesn't make mistakes. He is a more traditional forward than Diaw.

    Plus, he is in shape...

Watched the Jazz game, Boris looked horribly out of shape and unmotivated, tbh..

I thought a contract year with the increased cap would motivate him, but he may just be burnt out from basketball, at this point..

DWorst is awful and Diaw is just too fat to play any sports other than golf at this point.

Wow what a stat line!!! I never liked DWorst. Sure while he was a Spur you had to root for him and his passing and the jumper were nice but I had seen enough of his share of defense an the lack of boxing out and boarding. I hope he costs the GSW a few games.

Lee is definitely a more energetic player.
Yep..Other than his love affair with Bonner, Pop actually has good feel as to when a role player is done with the team and it's time to move one.

Also PATFO saved a life in the process: UNT Eagles 2016

I take 100% full credit for this thread, the "Turd Towers" moniker for West-Diaw, the "D-Worst" moniker, and the fact that last night proved me right all along.

Definitely lots of addition by subtraction last night. The departures of West and Diaw in particular. The second unit looked fantastic, reminiscent of 2014.

If we could just swap out Parker for a legit guard like CP3 and get Gasol in the groove, this team could be a monster.

Playmaking wise, Yes. Rebounding, no. Lee is a much better rebounder than Diaw and that is what killed the SPurs last year and why they lost to OKC last year.

Plus Lee is younger and moves better. It's a slight upgrade IMO as Diaw started to become disinterested again last year and didn't have the same fire he had the 1st 3 years w/ the Spurs. Lee looks like he wants to prove himself and he was hustling all night last night. I expect him to get better defensively as the season progresses.

west really should have retired. i was a bit surprised GS took the bait on him after what he showed last season.

pretty mindboggling since they had his taller and younger version in Speights who got the same mininum salary from the Clips..

FYI for everyone: Pop wanted both. Dworst left of his own accord and Diaw was traded reluctantly for Gasol, since Diaw had been public stating that Pop wanted to keep him if it was possible. So we may be thankful to external factors in that account.

I did think Diaw was over the hill last season but it was hard to tell what was coasting and what was really being over the hill that was masked by his unselfishness. He was still able to have good to very good games on occasion, but that is what happens with aging veterans, they start to be more inconsistent and they don't have it every night anymore. I am sure taking care of his diet and fitness could prolong his play since he's so skilled, but he doesn't seem to care about that. I still think Dedmon/Lee will have times they will show their known warts but they are more energetic, which suits the bench. Dworst and Diaw played a different style and clearly that was not enough to carry the Spurs any further than they did.

If all we get out of Demon is defense and rebounding, were doing alright. If all we get out of Lee is active defense and a couple layups, were ahead of the game

If either goes off for more and gets 10 points 7 rebounds we stacked

The thing is that he isn't going to get that many touches, even Tim didn't get that many touches last season. Although, he should probably try swatting the offensive rebounds much like Tyson Chandler b/c he tends to fumble 'em.

    Diaw vs Lakers : 18 minutes 0pts/1ast/2rebs
West vs Pelicans: 9 minutes 3pts/1reb

I'm afraid Boris is ready for retirement. At this rate, he is going to have to settle for the minimum salary if he wants to stay in this league next season..

Have to disagree, largely based on numbers. I'll always like Boris Diaw the person, and the Beautiful Game 2014 Boris, but lets not kid ourselves... Lee is an upgrade.

That GQ interview really is damning; there are like 9 things Diaw would rather do than basketball. I'd like to think Utah got Diaw for coaching and stuff, to be a player coach. Utah needs motivation and Georgie and Diaw can play good cop bad cop.

Diaw 2.0 was a beast, the last two years the fat lazy one, not so much. West ehhhhh, he was good during the year but that OKC series he was way out of pocket.

    Been saying it all off-season.

Spurs only had one big last year in the playoff rotation that had a pulse. Duncan was done, West was done and Boris only had coffee keeping him awake. Dedmon was going to be an auto upgrade on West. Gasol was going to be an auto upgrade on Duncan. Then Bertans/Lee replaced the unmotivated photographer.

So glad West didn't want to come back. If he did, he's probably here instead of Lee. At least Lee is still active.
pau isn't an upgrade over tim.
