when this place is the go to for spurs fans around the world? i read a few posts from some older posters saying this forum is dead and this place sucks, but we had over a 1000 people in just one thread last night
the owners even said themselves they're excited about the forum's future but we have a few unsatisfied posters here and i want to know exactly what was so dope about this place pre 2009. give me some classic threads, posters, etc.

love em or hate em, they create a lot of traffic in threads they're in.

oh yea i forgot the UT recruiting thread. probably the most important thread on this site and the best source for recruiting info for longhorn fans.
Most older members reminisce because way back when, they used have legit get togethers and all kind of posters would get together and whatnot. The bball discussion was also much more...i'm not sure of the word im looking for, maybe "mild." obviously trolling existed and people got uppity but it was way more tame in those days than the last 5 or 6 years. those members were also likely older, thus they didn't like the influx of younger posters and their posting styles over time. Not only that but it was a top time for rivalries vs other western teams and their fans. Spurs vs. Suns/Mavs/Lakers fans was much more entertaining back when their teams weren't dumpster fires and the overall style of posting was much different, imo.
not saying I miss those days, I enjoy ST no matter what and don't give a flying that spurswoman and Rashofan or angel_luv or whatever "old school" fans don't post here anymore. good riddance imo. the only problem is the clamps on registration has really restricted the quality of trolling/discussion with other teams' fans. all we have to poke fun of are Lakerfans which is why half the NBA forum is people laughing at them, they're the only ones still here for some reason

Older posters move on because life moves on. I started on this forum almost 13 God damn years ago, no need to really contribute, especially when it's all been said.
People have said this place is dead or isn't what it used to be from the first day I logged in here in 07.
Along with a semi annual goodbye thread from some poor soul that's taking a beating that's more than their emotional threshold can take.
The only thing that really strikes me as different is that new accounts haven't been approved much these last few years. I most enjoyed the trolls who came to have an "intellectual" basketball discussion as to why their team was the bestest...they always left confused and offended.

It's all fun n' games to me, yep, just a way to relax and have a few chuckles. Anyone looking for serious deep discussions are in the wrong place, that's why this place is called....THE CLUB.
I've always like to watch how people react to certain things, it's interesting.
Obviously the real attraction here is the freedom, I can;t handle tight moderation. Being able to be that prick we all want to be is pretty cool.

We do have an over abundance of young/immature posters here, that does get in the way. I guess I shouldn't bait/troll them like I do, my bad.
I think I will cool messing with the obvious strange ones for the good of the forum. I have got carried away with it.

From what I can tell the site always had ribbing but it was good natured or at least between people who probably actually knew each other. Then you had all these people show up who rely heavily on being anonymous to launch nasty attacks against the old timers and after awhile those guys don't feel like this place is the same, like it's devolved into anonymous multi-trolls slinging at each other and copying reddit and 4chan to death as if it's original humor.
This is just a guess.
Then you have ass clowns like Avante who everything up with his takes. It's so ty that, over time, newer people will start saying how Avante is an asset to the forum.
What gets me about this place is how so many here need others to be just like them and if they aren't they can't handle it. I do things differently, I don't give a what your favorite fast food place is and neither does anyone else, I don't care what tv shows you like and neither does anyone else. What I do is bring out who people really are, and as we can see most people are ing jerks.
I get others involved unlike anyone else here, I'm that guy you will remember. Can I be just another poster, sure, but like you that is boring as . So why now do this "Avante" bit, it sure beats that weak ass your dumb ass plays.

This is probably the biggest difference.
But all in all, The Club hasn't really changed much in the 13 years I've been here. For as painfully unfunny as Avante / Koolaid Man etc. are, back then we had the also-painfully-unfunny Mouse creating 80 threads a day. At one point they created an entire password-protected forum just so he could crack himself up somewhere else.
The content on the Spurs board was better when people put more effort into it, but there are so many places to read about the Spurs now that it really doesn't need to be housed on a message board.

Why do you even bother with Avante, it isn't real obvious you aren't liked and are being ignored? I don't talk with posters who ignore me, I have too much self respect for that. You appear to have none.
