It's amazing how a team's chemistry improves once they get rid of a cancerous tumor.

Man I can't even say to defend that right now CN, is it more coaching than Kobe's absence or both?
Byron was God awful ...
Walton would be on the hot seat already if Kobe was still there. Either that, or he'd be under strict orders to let Kobe play tons of minutes and pad his stats at the expense of the young players' development.
Sorry, but it's true: Kobe was a cancer who dragged down his franchise. Shaq and MVPau would have won way more rings in LA without him than they ever won in spite of him.
If the Lakers make the playoffs, they should make a 30 for 30 on the Byron Scott/Kobe duo's destruction of the franchise during those 2(3?) years![]()
could you imagine the field day Lakerfan would be having if Tim Duncan hadn't made the playoffs in years, played his last relevant game in 2012, dragged down the spurs for years into way below .500 territory, and had the entire roster on record saying it's more fun to play now that he's gone?![]()

Byron, Mike D, Mike Brown, that other fellow...
Yeah it's them. Certainly not the got that called his team Charmin while he was vacationing in South America during the regular season.
Then some Spurs homer pops in and says "maybe it was the coach, Brett Brown or coach Bud, or Ettore or Becky, or Chad.. or Chip, or even Ime"
The first paragraph has merit the second one is horse ...
Shaq couldn't ring with penny, Nash etc.
As dominant as he was needed Prime Wade and ascending Kobe to ring ...Mvpau .. lol can we retire dat now that Kobe is gone?
I wouldn't go so far as saying the Lakers will win 5 or more rings if they had nothing instead of Kobe. In fact, it is hard to imagine the Lakers winning 5 with just one single player replacing Kobe throughout all those years, but that is strictly due to longevity reasons. But Shaq would have won 3 or more with Carter, TMac, Iverson, Pierce, or even Allen instead of Kobe. Shaq couldn't win with Penny in Orlando because he was young and had Brian Hill as the coach (who never got another shot at the NBA after that Penny disaster), and he couldn't win with Nash because Shaq was way over his prime at that point. It's like saying Dirk couldn't win it all with Finley and Nash and the reason is because none of them were at their primes.
That 3-peat Kobe was THE best Kobe, he actually tried on the defensive end and knew his place in the food chain.
As for MVPau, he could have won with Lebron, Wade, Pierce, Chris Paul, maybe even Manu or Tony Parker in those roles. Not sure how many times I have reiterate it, but that repeat Laker teams were driven by the frontline.
There was also a fellow up in Chicago that made things tough on the rest of the league during Shaq's early years.
lol Knobbyjobby81 using Phoenix era Shaq as evidence Shaq couldn't ring without Kobe.
Shaq "needed" Horry. MVPau "needed" Odom. Neither of them needed Kobe. In fact, he made it harder for them to win by hogging the ball, chucking up terrible shots, blaming them for every loss, destroying team chemistry, and running off players and coaches. It's hard to win with a role player who thinks he's the owner, GM, head coach and first option all at the same time.
How does it feel to know the Lakers tanked for an handful of seasons while the Clippers were making the playoffs, yet Staples is gonna see the Lakers win #17 before they ever see the Clippers win their 1st?
But then again, you're a piss colored bandwagoner who roots for both the spurs and cavs, so i doubt you really care.
MVPau ditched Kirby & became an all-star, Shaq ditched Kirby & won a chip, D'Bust dumped Kirby & won 3 games in a row.![]()
Ur not saying you will finish better than the Twolves again now are you?
You know Kobe's gone when Lakerfan starts talking les again - and they aren't referring to their adopted team up north.
