You don't shoo Dirk out the door the second it's no longer convenient to have him on the team. I wish he had retired and hung it up after last year because they need to get on with building a post-Dirk team, but it is what it is. Who knows, maybe in his mind he needs the extra $20 million going into retirement. I think though that if the team sucks (what's the ceiling? 35-40 wins? that's not gonna get you into a lower seed this year), he's hurt and in pain (which so far is the case) and it's not fun (i think this qualifies as not fun), he might not come back next year.
I agree that it's prolonging the necessary rebuild, and I don't like it either.
we'll just push that rock up the hill.
Looks like Cuban is throwing a huge temper tantrum at the media now:
Barnes stepping up is a positive...he has been pretty good.
Apparently he's mad that ESPN doesn't have a permanent beat reporter covering the Mavs anymore. So in his warped mind, the solution is to punish the people who still actually cover his team.
Mavfan throwing NaziDirk under the bus, about time scros.![]()
Dirk gave Cubes huge discounts, stayed loyal and brought a chip to Dallas he owes the Mavs nothing...
I stopped giving a after 2011 too... it's hard to get excited about a mediocre, non-contending product. Plus I stopped getting league pass to watch every game.
But that 2011 run... what a run
The satisfying thing about 2011 was that from 2008-2010 we looked like an aging team that was stuck in "above average but not contending" mode. Got owned by the Hornets/Nuggets in back to back years in the playoffs, then lost as a 2 seed to the Spurs. This following the '07 disaster and the rigged '06 Finals.
But ever since, we suck.
2011 was the peak of the NBA forum, tbh
Spurs, Mavs and Lakera were all relevant, the forum had way more non-alt posters, the SA Heat was created and we had Bulls fans to on![]()
I can't believe it's been over 10 years since the 2006 Finals... man, where does the time go!?
Not it wasn't the peak was the pistons/spurs/lakers Era from 20004-2008 the Pau trade changed this place and it has been in decline ever since. I started posting in 2008 but this place was much better when I was just lurking ...you deeps, El, thread, ashy, cobbler, Alanon, Jam, bumper were all in your prime ...
Cubes getting petty and childish..unreal..That's how you know someone has lost the plot..
he's just trying to motivate the players.
thats why they responded with an epic win over a top 5 team in the bucks.
Isn't Stein to Dirk what Windhorst is to Lebron?..
Also no disrespect to Nowitzki/Carlisle, but these current Mavs are just about as relevant as those Pistons teams after end of their glory days in late 2000s..ESPN curtailed its coverage of marquee teams like Lakers and Miami post-Lebron when they sucked..it will eventually happen to the Warriors and the Spurs..not sure why Cuban is incensed here..
What a strange story, if reports are accurate..
There hasn't been anything interesting about the Mavs in years..there literally isn't a single thing on their current roster that could generate clicks..a Dirk farewell tour is probably the only storyline they could generate, if he announced his retirement..
Ikr, since their fluke championship mavs have fallen of the face of the earth, and even mavfans agree they grossly over-achieved in '11, and don't give a anymore.
That's true, but I've also been ting on Chandler Parsons for years..
White American basketball players
Rockets fan
Parsons would be Larry Bird if he was born 20 years earlier
