People here expecting a championship, and then start " Spurs need to avoid X team" threads.

If you think Spurs need to avoid a team, then they arent good enough. Plain and simple.

Both Clippers and Warriors lack a great bench. Both teams have 4 really great starters and a floater. If y'all think these teams are going to ride 4 players through 82 games and playoffs y'all are crazy. People cliff diving when the Spurs are playing without 2 starters lol. Take two starters off the Dubs or Clips and let's see what happens.

Especially a team that's not projected to be definitively better than them, nor the best in the conference.

I still maintain that they're not so much a match-up issue as they are underrated, which is strange for a top 5 team over a half decade stretch. It's a combination of their franchise being synonymous with losing, the lack of so much as a WCF appearance from their core and they way they imploded in '14 and '15.

People don't seem to realize how good they are and bad the Spurs are versus the elite in the past 2+ seasons.

If the Clippers make it past the 2nd round the Spurs will likely avoid them.

Wardell, Klaynus and Raymond rang two seasons ago by avoiding healthy teams, tbh

They wore the grey uniforms every home game during the 2013' playoff run, except for the Finals.
Sorry, just read...And you're right. Those were the 'good' grey

The Clippers are the Clippers and will melt down sooner or later. There's no need to fear any matchup at this point in the season. The Spurs need to worry about themselves more than anyone else. Get this thing running smoothly by the time the playoffs start.

You could look at that two ways: They could have gotten past the 2nd round by avoiding the Spurs.

We already knew they couldn't beat the Clippers, but I'm still not confident this team gets out of the first round. They're still so inconsistent and they have several fatal flaws that a team like Utah/OKC can take advantage of in a potential series.

Terrible matchup. CP3 kills TP/D-League, Re also kills D-League, their bench guards kill our bench guards, Blake>LMA, and DeMonkey and Gasol are about a wash.

Not if we get them in the second round. Chris Paul would never let his team get to the Conference Finals.

Nah that's exactly when he would FINALLY accomplish that incredible feat. He'd like nothing better than to see us in the 2nd round.

Spurs will easily get out of the first round. The problem the Spurs have with the Clippers is CP3,Red ,Jordan,Blake. Those 4 guys play at a high level against the Spurs and are hard to cover defensively. CP3 is the head of the snake and he's a very very smart player. The spurs can't guard him on picks or screens. He's always able to knock down the jumpers. If they can make the switch then he can always find an open man for a layup, dunk or 3 pointer. On top of that CP3 can score on a mismatch very easily. Wesbrook is a profoundly stupid player so I can't see the Spurs struggling to get defensive stops against OKC. Also Utah is not good offensive team so they will be easy to stop defensively.

The Spurs have zero rim protection and they thrive by getting to the rim, especially Westbrook. Utah is the second or third best shooting team statistically with bigs that have given the Spurs problems in the past on top of plenty of former Spurs who understand the Spurs' intricacies. Not saying they'd be favored but they'd have more than a small chance.

Kawhi can guard Westbrook so that won't be an issue. He's always had success locking him down. Utah does not scare me they have no legit star. Hayward and Hill are good players but they are not difficult to guard. They are not great penetrators. So they can't really take advantage of the spurs lack of rim protectors. Gobert is a great defensive player and they can play a grind out game with the spurs but that type of style favors the Spurs. In my eyes I don't give them a small chance at all to beat the spurs. They have a tiny chance of doing it if a key spurs player gets injured.
