Gawd dammit.
It might not be. I have a feeling someone is calling this too early.
Trump wins Iowa..
he will sign every piece of that comes out of Repug Congress, and the 6-3 VRWC Scotus will wave it thorugh.
The funny thing is I think the country has made great strides in race relations. Still a ton of problems and inequities, but there is an awareness that I can feel.
However, how it happened, and they way many things were handled, have led to the feeling that things are worse than ever. This was the part of hope. They had 8 years. There is no hope.
You can blame me and ElNono, I think we both abstained.
I got page flipped.
This empty promise is what likely put the buffoon over the top.
Those jobs are never coming back. People still haven't figured out that the geopolitical and economic climate was different in the 1950's-1970's when blue collar Americans could hash out a decent middle class living working in plants and factories. World War II left the manufacturing infrastructure of most countries devastated, China was nothing but rural farm land, and India was recovering from their exit of the British Empire. American manufacturing literally had no compe ion so companies were pretty much anchored to operate here. That's obviously not the case anymore. Furthermore, the corporate tax rate was something like 70% then. With manufacturing looking like an important part of tonight’s narrative, it’s worth remembering that politicians tend to make big promises about bringing manufacturing jobs back — promises it is very unlikely they’ll be able to keep. Even if they could, today’s manufacturing jobs aren’t necessarily the high-paying, stable jobs that we tend to remember. As I’ve written before, I wish candidates would talk less about manufacturing and more about how to make service-sector jobs fill the hole they’ve left in the economy.
Andif Trump thinks imposing high tariffs will protect domestic manufacturing jobs. Let's see if his rural, salt-of-the-earth voter base enjoys paying high premiums for televisions, smartphones, and other gadgets down at the local Walmart.
I'm no fan of Hillary, but she was at least business as usual. Trump doesn't have a clue in what he's doing. He still thinks it's the 1950's.
I also blame weepy, sniveling hipster liberal gots for giving Trump's populism wings. Yes, as mentioned, people, white or otherwise, are tired of being censored and chastised by self-righteous 25 year old Huffpo commentators whining about the "injustices" of how Tim Burton doesn't cast enough black people in his movies and telling everyone to "check their privilege." This was blow-back from their half-decade social media crusade against anything even vaguely right-leaning.
A dark day, indeed.
is rachel madcow saying anything cool enough to turn it over to msnbc?
my vote didn't count anyways, per the usual New Jersey goods
Such an amazing night I'm glad we're experiencing this. Never underestimate white blue collar undecideds
The minority love and white man hate has run it's course. When votes matter, the majority matters. I guess Jay-Z can scream the N word all night, Hillary probably will a few times if she loses.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GEORGIA TOO
He basically took my paper money.
For now.
