I visited it a year ago, to see the old haunts. Still small, but nothing like when I was there. Our only neighbor was the town's only dentist: Dr. Kirkum. We called him Jerk'em Kirkum. He shot my first dog.
When my dad had his accident (I was 3), the Sheriff would be creeping on my mom so aggressively, she shot a gun at his feet from inside the mobile home we lived in, through the screen door, to give him the message.
I remember that like it was yesterday. My dad leaving in an ambulance to San Antonio, since they were the closest hospital, at the time, that took care of head injuries and my mother shooting at the Sheriff because he wanted some cho-cho.

Nah, I was just playing. Microwave Dave is such a Corpus nickname. So far, I don't know anyone who's gotten "shot up in the middle of some cartel ." I'm thinking it's probably good to keep it that way.

Like I said, it was... hmm... 2-3 decades ago. He kept the newspaper clippings. I guess it was a big deal, at the time. I was living in Austin when it happened. A teenager.
