I don't have the stats in front of me (couldn't find advanced stats from last season right now), but I thought I would start a thread on the subject because I'm curious as to whether Kawhi has actually taken any significant strides since last season or just has a higher usage. Does anyone have any interesting numbers that say how much better Kawhi is performing thus far compared to last season?

It's too early in the season for any meaningful stats. His usage has gone up, and his eFG% has been ridiculous high in the last few games. So it looks good right now, however a week ago he was shooting a mere 33% at 3pts shots, now he is over 40%. Stats vary this early in the season.
Haven't checked stats, but it looks to me Kawhi's not been too good defensively this season. Certainly not as good as last couple of seasons. Could be because he needs more energy for offense, of course.
Right. I understand that. It'll be interesting to follow. His 3 % could rise tremendously. He's still above his career average right now even with his poor start from 3.

I would say that his USG% has dropped a lot in the last games. Pau has almost the same USG%.

Not sure. He's taking so many 3's, seven tonight, nine in Sacramento game.
With Parker/Pau P&Rs, they're playing him to spot-up more but 8 3PA per game in just two games is too much...

True. I'll take his current % though even if it'd be nice to see it at 44-45%. Even when it feels like he's in a huge slump he's still at 42%

Still early, but :
Offensive rating - 112.9, up from 109.2 last season.
Defensive rating - 105.0, down from 94.9.
eFG% - 51.3, down from 56.5.
TS% - 60.1, down from 61.6.
ORPM - 5.46, up from 4.19.
DRPM - 1.23, down from 3.88.

I hope as he becomes more comfortable in his new role those offensive numbers really take off.

I wouldn't say it. It's more about two weak defenders in the SL and Danny's absence in many games. No one -even Kawhi- can cover up 3 guys at the same timeAlso maybe a result of energy used on offensive end and/or taking possessions off to preserve offensive energy.

Kawhi is shooting a career worst 46% on two-pointers mostly b/c he's been struggling w/ his free-throw line jumper & only shooting 59% at the rim b/c he finishing in traffic more than ever. His FG% should creep up to the high 40s when his elbow jumper starts following consistently. Overall, Kawhi so far has his highest offensive plus/minus of his career.
Defensively, he has a DRtg of 100 which is his highest since his rookie season & his lowest defensive plus/minus of his career by a good margin but considering how the starters have been killed on defense it's not surprising. Although, he has the best defensive rating among the starters along with the most defensive win-shares on the team & only Dedmon has a lower DRtg than Kawhi. Overall, he's rated as the equivalent of '15-'16 Paul George who was All-NBA Defense 2nd team.
DRPM data would be helpful considering that Pau has the best defensive plus/minus among the starters & Kyle is second on the team.

Increasing his USG% and he still remains one of the most efficient scorers even when he shoots like . When he's hitting everything from 3, can't hit an ocean on 2P, and vice versa.

I know that people hate him here but prime Melo was a fantastic offensive player. If Kawhi is that player on offense, I couln't be happier.
Then add Kawhi's D, heart, work ethic...I guess he'll be fine.
Pau/Softridge are getting killed on switches & sagging won't solve it since they don't really intimidate anyone at the rim compared to someone like Dedmon.
The Bulls fell off defensively after they signed Pau b/c Noah's mobility was compromised after his knee injury & could no longer switch onto guards (Thibs benched Noah last season b/c of that reason).
Can't speak too much for last night, since the broadcast in Austin was pure . But Kawhi still has a way to go to find a balance in his game. Before recently, he was far too slanted toward offense. But he's taking a lighter load on that end right now, so I expect the stats to keep improving.
Biyombo/Turner with the worst RPM for their respective positions after signing a 70 mill contract.
The stats are pretty deflated right now after the LA and Houston game, but it should get better as the season progress. 50-40-90 watch is going to be exciting no to mention the RPM leaders.
Also, Dedmon playing can really elevate Kawhi defensive stats...the more he plays with Gasol, the worse his stat is.
Pau effort in defense in significantly worse when he's not involved in offense. Pretty ty if you ask me...At least softridge can somewhat run in the perimter.

He's been in a lower gear to not burn out, and teams have been smarter about moving the ball away from him. His defense has looked as strong as ever to me though.
