I think it is..last year's Spurs were dominant on defense and winning Rs games because of defense..by the time playoffs come they lacked on offense and no Rythm at all to win games at crunch time.. the warriors on the other hand dominated on offense and it gave them 73-9 record and 1 win away to win it all if curry not choking on game 7 of the finals..

Then the defensive minded team like the grizz, pacers and bulls should have won a le already In the last 3 to 4years bbecause they were good defensively..

I don't think it's that simple. Warriors had the best defense in the NBA along with the 2nd best offense when they won the le in 15. They had a top 5 defense in 16 as well.
SA had a top 3 defense when they won in 14.

Like everything in life, you need balance.

A Harden type > Bowen type sure

    but

A Mutombo type > Al Jefferson type

You could use those type of examples both ways.

there is no reason as to why good defence wouldn't mean better offense, aside of fitness, but that really can't be the reason for a team like the spurs.

just because they are defensive minded, doesn't mean that they have great defenders.

Balance has always been the key, regardless of era, tbh..

You get the occasional anomalous team like last year's Cavs, but balance is generally a consistent trait with all le teams..

Golden gots defense was pretty good, but greatly enhanced by WarriorRef on both ends of the floor.
Additionally the fluke injuries to Clippers and Cavs masked a ton.
    2016 unmasked.

interms of importance I rate it like this: offense = 50%, defense = 40% and luck = 10%....

There is no doubt about it that how and where a team finishes it's offensive shot leaves the team in position (or not) for transition Defense.

For example on the Spurs when LMA does his dipsy doodle turnaround jumper from the wing, I notice very often the Spurs then have no offensive rebounder in position.

What if the opponent can't miss? Is there anything the defense can do? That's there's a saying " great defense but a better offense"..

what if the opponent cant miss in the playoffs? Is there anything the defense can do? The answer is you have to counter it with offense too..

When has that ever happened? If we look at recently, yes Wardell could not miss for most of 2014-15 season. Until he got some defense stuck in his face in the form of the Rockets Patrick Beverly.

But I mostly agree with you. And, oftentimes a good way to slow down an offense is to make them play defense.

    I guess they're 5th and 13th.

But they were #7 on Defense last week...Then these last 3 games allowing 100 points happened.

Cleveland is 9th on defense last year..and the clutch 3 offense of Irving is the one who beat the warriors..

Offense and defense are very cyclical so its always going to be about balance.
