Can confirm @MLB All-Star Game will no longer determine World Series home-field advantage, as @AP reported. @MLBNetwork
So HFA has been determined by a ing ASG?

This is too ing good to be real tbh
Oh it is real
Too bad. It made the game compe ive unlike the scrimmages we see at the Pro Bowl and NBA's All-Star Weekend.
This. Besides, it's better than using an arcade-style game instead of OT in poorball games.
So the home advantage will now be determined by the average weight of each squad?
HFA in the World Series should be based on seeding and record. In other words, if you have two 1-seeds, whoever has the better record gets it. If you have a 1 or a 2, regardless of records, the 1 gets it.
That's not perfect but better than the ASG determining it.
Totally agree. Can come down to ASG or record if same seed makes WS from both leagues, but this is fairest way considering only like 10% of schedule is played out of league and if one league is a lot stronger, puts their teams at huge disadvantage. NBA is about 37% inter-conf for reference.
MLB
I would actually like to see the NBA adopt this.
The West has been the notoriously stronger conference for over a decade. Spurs/Warriors/Clippers/Thunder (with Durant) all had to play each other 3 to 4 times each, while Miami/Cleveland would beat up on 38 win "playoff" teams and the like.
Furthermore, home field doesn't really matter in playoff baseball. Even with the designated hitter rule change.

Adopt something Fatbol rejected?

All stars lineupa doesnt determine which conference has better teams and better depth.
They need to abolish the leagues altogether or at least make them less relevant. They used to actually be separate leagues no different than conferences in college sports but it's all under the same umbrella of Major League Baseball now and has been for many decades now, where their minor league players compete and interact with one another, same umpires, no more legit league presidents, etc... The only reason the leagues exist is tradition and that silly little DH rule. If they ever get rid of the DH or in turn make a full MLB rule, then they need to just go to Western and Eastern conferences. Most of the historic rivalries would be preserved and some would be enhanced, such as White Sox-Cubs.
Thank goodness they finally got rid of what might have been Selig's dumbest idea.
It was horrible, but Selig's dumbest idea was not going after steroid use in the late 90s - early 00s. Now the most hallowed stats like 755 and 61 are gone and replaced by blatant cheaters who will never get in the HOF. Second would be him not doing anything about games becoming so long. I can't believe Selig took baseball from the most popular American sport that young people loved to something that draws mostly old people now.
This rule was the real difference in this year's WS. The Cubs likely lose with HFA this year, tbh.
Steroids made Bud a lot of money and got people excited about the sport again after the lockout. Great business decision by Bud, tbh.
I don't think you can blame Bud or anyone else associated with baseball for getting surpassed by football. The reality is, the NFL just made a ton of smart business decisions starting all the way back in the 1930s to get to the top, from moving out of tiny Midwestern towns and into big cities, to merging with other fledgling pro football leagues, to creating the amateur draft, to getting every game on television, etc., etc.
imo it's mostly because baseball is slow as and not really entertaining to watch tbh, the age of instant gratification has made games like baseball incredibly unsatisfying to watch to the average american in 2016 because it's a game where mostly nothing happens for 3-4 hours
