Don't need to win a ring to be better than the lakers, with making the playoffs is enough, tbh.

You mean he didn't miss the postseason in 2005 like stat padded Kirby did after Shaq abandoned him?

Kirby has ZERO postseason series victories w/o Shaq or MVPau including his PEAK '05-'06 season whe he couldn't beat a Suns team w/o Ama're.

Still turned around a franchise and has done more in one year than Carr has accomplished. Carr has stacked weapons, he better win his MVP or SB ring.. it's his best and probably only chance... Carr would his pants with Ted Ginn as his #1..... and if he had the O-Line Carolina had he would look as mediocre as he did the first two years

Carr would his pants with Ted Ginn as his #1..... and if he had the O-Line Carolina had he would look as mediocre as he did the first two years

What exactly has Carr accomplished in the league thus far?
being the leader that has helped transform a franchise from laughingstock/bottomfeeder to one primed to make the playoffs with a bright future ahead of them. carr was drafted in 2014. the last time the raiders had a winning record was the 2002 season.

cam has always been an inconsistent player and a mediocre passer, who makes up for it with supreme athletic ability. last year was the only time the stars aligned and he strung good performances together, but its more of an aberration than anything when you look at all the numbers... touchdowns, yards, passer rating, and compare it to his career averages

before last season, he averaged 20.5 touchdown passes per year. last year he threw for 35. this year he's on pace for 19, right around his career average.
before last season, his passer rating was 85. last year, he was 99. this year right around 80
his career completion percentage is right around 59... we know how he is as a passer

yes he can run, but when chips are down you need your QB to make throws on crucial downs, and he's an inconsistent passer, which is why the panthers have had inconsistent results with him. this is why i've always differentiated wilson from newton. they both run a lot, but wilson has at least been more consistent and efficient as a passer in addition to being a scrambling threat. he completes 2/3 of his throws and has a career passer rating around 100.

carr obviously doesnt have stacked accomplishments because he's only in his 3rd season. newton didn't make the playoffs until his 3rd year. carr is about to make the playoffs in his 3rd year and is among the frontrunners for mvp as we speak. yeah, the panthers were a bad team when cam got there, but the raiders had been historically awful for over a decade before carr took over
the whole thing applies, but emphasis at the end

he turned the team around for one year but it means more than Newton's or anyone else's because its the Raiders

You know who else turned a franchise around? Derek Anderson for Cleveland. It's one year. Until he does and accomplishes anything... stay humble

I like Carr... praised the Raiders and his progression... and even think he's MVP.. but you continuously troll my team and QB.. when he's accomplished more, has already reached the elite QB threshold (and will be the face of the NFL with Wilson and others once Brady retires), and has proven he can carry a franchise. Wait until your QB does more. Completion % does not indicate that.

didn't turn around . Kuechly and Josh Norman turned around the franchise.

has Kelvin Benjamin and Greg Olsen and is still one of the least accurate QBs in the league this year.

Yep them 45 touchdowns last year with Ted Ginn and Devin Funchess had nothing to do with it. Neither did losing our O-line this year... and that awkward moment when James Bradberry has a higher PFF rating than Josh Norman (who I miss)

I already explained why 's 2015 season was a fluke before this season, all over this thread, and (as usual) I've been proven right over time:

    http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=262724

You've been using the "O-line" excuse for years, BTW. Rivers' offensive line has been garbage for ages now and he still s all over . Big Ben and Eli have won Super Bowls with worse O-lines than what has.

Face it, your boy sucks ass as a passer, which is the most important job for a QB in the NFL.

he turned the team around for one year but it means more than Newton's or anyone else's because its the Raiders
the raiders were not just a bad team because they lacked talent, they were the worst run franchise in pro sports. he was drafted onto a team that spent big money in free agency to sign washed up MJD, Lamarr Woodley, etc. the panthers had like 1 year of being poor but still had talent. deangelo williams and jonathan stewart were there. ryan kalil and jordan gross were elite o-linemen who were there. steve smith was there. john fox was an established coach as opposed to dennis allen. yes, there is a discernible difference between turning around a perennial loser and turning around a historically solid team with literally 1 horrible season because they were starting qb's like jimmy clausen and matt moore for most of the year

You know who else turned a franchise around? Derek Anderson for Cleveland. It's one year. Until he does and accomplishes anything... stay humble
lol. derek anderson "turned around" cleveland in a year they missed the playoffs and he had a newton-esque passer rating of 82. excellent example.
Newton took a 1-15 team to the playoffs three straight years, won MVP, First team All-Pro, and took his team to the SB. His record in the playoffs is pretty stellar. What about Carr
Newton didn't make the playoffs until his third year. Carr is 1.5 games away from doing the same. Yes, Cam had an amazing 2015 season. Cam won MVP in what was his 5th season. Carr is among the fruntrunners right now in his 3rd. as demonstrated with stats, 2015 was an outlier season, and he has since regressed back to the same cam we always knew, despite having a healthy benjamin this year which was supposed to help even more. just ask steve smith about cam's passing after he signed with baltimore.

My statement about his offensive line making him, and the fact he would die with Ted Ginn as his #1 stands
yeah, carr has a stout pass protecting offensive line. but unlike cam (who held the ball too long resulting in mack's strip-sack), Carr has a knack for getting rid of the ball very quick, which also helps the OL. you want evidence of that? i'm sure you watched the raiders-panthers game. in case you forgot, here are his biggest plays. outside the deep ball to crabtree late in the video, notice how he gets rid of the ball instantly, and there basically isn't a play outside the one deep ball where the OL gives him ridiculous amounts of time

Completion % does not indicate that.
your team deserves trolling because the panther posters are easily the most egregious homers in the NFL forum. you spent the whole week leading up to the raiders panthers game trying to convince me that the panthers were gonna win, and ridiculed me for pointing out that the raiders are rightfully favored and probably will win because they've been the better team and were at home

carr right now (and even last year) is already a better passer than newton. passing consistency has always dominated the QB position. completion % isn't a GREAT stat, but it is indicative of a qb's reliability. if your YPA is high because your average completion is 20 yards and you attempt tougher throws, thats fine and dandy. but when its 3rd and 8 and you need to move the sticks, i'll take the more accurate passer.
