A few people, have said he has really good defensive metrics. Is this true? (Fully admit I am too lazy to look it up.)

I watch games and I use stats. Dude has stone feet that gambles a lot, and can't win contested rebounds and is slow to react for other rebounds or just intangibles in general/hustle.

He rates average but would get exposed in a playoff setting. That's just his defense. His only marginal talent.

Trust me, you don't want me going in on his offense.

    I still think that, too.

But I have to admit he doesn't work well with this team's dynamic.

Let's compare Fat Head & Gaymond through age 23 (Kyle won't turn 24 until September): http://bkref.com/tiny/S4Wwo

If he ever could gain 20 lbs of muscle & knockdown 40% of his WIDE OPEN 3s:

Kyle Anderson: A+ He played a very good game, had a nice block which didn’t count, a very gutsy 1 rebound, and passed very well to Patty so he can shoot a fadeaway long 2. Overall a very good outing.

Dude came in and played incredible D for six minutes, and there's a thread lambasting him. Meanwhile, Kawhi got pulled aside by Pop for defensive miscues, and people can't even entertain the idea that he's not playing good D this year. Vintage ST.

Remember the days when you actually contributed as a poster instead of just talking and running a schtick?

Yeah, no one else does either. I don't get it. Do you need attention that badly that you're willing to make threads with the body of a single emoticon?

Truly, I'm still not sure what to think of Kyle. I'm rooting for him, I really like his arm length.

With his arm length, Kyle should be able to play the passing lanes very well. He did it a last night against Boston when he was out there. But it was only 6 minutes though. I want more of that.

Defensive miscue(s) or a miscue? Kawhi was great defensively all night, but you're going to bring up the 1 issue he had? He kept his man Crowder pretty much non-existent, then once Bradley got going, Pop put him on Bradley and he got quiet. So to bring up 1 miscue is a stretch, when you consider how many minutes each of them played. Cherry picking big time man.

This isn't to hate on Anderson, I think he's an average defender with good length. He's not as good as you're claiming, and Kawhi isn't as bad as you're claiming.

Lol, if you actually look up my posts, you'll see neither of those things. You see me saying that when Parker is in his old MVP-candidate mode that Kawhi should defer so he can attack off secondary penetration and that LMA should be the center and the Spurs should go cheap at PF (like West for the min) so they can spend their money on a guard.

Now people like you are ing about the guard play and about Kawhi not getting help. Next thing you know, you're going to want Dedmon to start.

You, on the other hand, have countless threads full of like Kawhi's physical appearance and wanting him to chuck so he'd get MVP.

He kept his man Crowder pretty much non-existent, then once Bradley got going, Pop put him on Bradley and he got quiet.
This assumes a pretty outdated view of the Spurs' D. No one guarded anyone one-on-one all night. The Celtics screening, and the Spurs kept switching. Kawhi made more than one mistake on switches, including two Crowder threes that weren't what got him pulled. You're totally right that Kawhi isn't a bad defender, not last night and not all year. The issue is that people will watch a game and then make up to fit their player-fandom.

Kyle got got a steal, blocked two shots and boarded twice in six minutes. He only got scored on once on a severe mismatch with no help. It was a great game. Meanwhile, people have to dive through hoops to explain why it's not Kawhi's fault that everyone plays better D when he's not on the court. I like Kawhi quite a bit and think he's a wonderful defender, which is why my hypothesis had nothing to do with him being bad on D.
