Their GM Olshey has gone from Executive of the year candidate last season to potentially being on the axe block soon..

Incredible how they believed their own hype and went on to overpay a bunch of average roles players after a fluky 2nd round run in one of the worst West conference yezars with too many teams either injury-riddled or under-performing..

    strange, it's "only" 111 on nba.com

    http://stats.nba.com/teams/advanced/...F_RATING&dir=1

Anyway, it's the loliard effect. Their plan was a bit weird but original I guess. I suppose we'll see if it was worth anything in three years. Still, some players got an absurd amount of money...

It's very difficult to succeed with a plan that requires them to sign players with the main idea of using them as trade assets. It doesn't even work when stacking up rookie contracts and it surely won't work with overpaying middling talent.

Not a surprise, since he's the same moron who made the Kyrie trade, drafted Al-Farouq Aminu over Paul George (a local product who grew up a Clippers fan, wanted to be here and would have been the perfect fit for our needs), and traded the farm for Choke Paul.

They said they're in "win now" mode. Which is hilarious considering their ghastly roster.

    Portland Salaries:
    2016-17 $120,139,444
    2017-18 $134,395,849 < A rise of ~12% DESPITE shedding Anderson Varejao's $9,300,000 contract.
    2018-19 $119,918,760
    2019-20 $116,763,587 to six players

They need to trade CJ for a big and a respectable wing player. Team has zero bench. Relying on Plumlee

They have bigger problems than their bench. Aminu is making 7 million dollars for the next 3 years. His PER this season is 7. SEVEN.

Aminu has missed half the games this year and has played inujred for the majority of the 13 games he's played. He's far from the problem. Actually, He isn't even a problem. He's the only legit potential positive defensive player for their team.

He's was actually their mpst valuable player last year in the playoffs. He did things no one expected him to do so in that sense he kinda ruined the team.

Miles Leonard makes 10 million a year...I mean wtf .

The Blazers and Pistons have respectively the 2nd and 3rd highest payroll in the league and will end-up scraping to just make the playoffs...I get that both can't attract FAs in their market, and will have to overpay some, but that's a gross executive incompetence anyway you spin it....

Their front office actually believed-- with their present core-- they were the 4th best team in the West after a fluke 2nd round run, when in fact they have played like a 7th-8th seed team for the majority of time since the Fall of 2015..

Yeah..they probably thought Aminu has become a legit shooter

I like Al-Farouq but how anyone thinks they didnt fluke out a series win last year with Aminu playing like Korver from three..is beyond me. Good player though.

That Lillard-McCollum back court is not working man, playing TWO defensively challenged sieves as GUARD in this modern era, and you expect any other result than this ?

i thought the idea was to train the guys and make them play together, not to use the players as assets.

Reminds me of the cap Knicks teams of the early 2000s. One fluky Finals run set off some serious delusions.

The Mavs and Blazers broke the bank too but at least they had some decent playoff runs to show for it.

They're ing awful. Denver or even Sacramento (if they keep Cousins) will overtake them for the eighth seed.

nevermind, the Kings have already overtaken them...
