Still remember '14 when a lot of people were cliff jumping because we couldn't beat contenders, especially when OKC beat us to end that long ass winning streak. And that was for most of the season too.

Different team makeup though. Back then it was a lot more about building team chemistry because we played a different brand of basketball, tbh... This is a top-heavy team, we're way more reliant on what our top 3 options give you than anything else.

I had to tone my own pessimism down. I guess by now we know the team's weak links etc... and there is no point in getting down about them. I suppose if I see some things Pop does too and he's going to be dealing with those issues. The rest is a bounce here or there going for the Spurs.

For me the regular season is very enjoyable anyways... a lot of new players to see and youngsters to see develop and go through up and downs and struggling some then having good games. One never knows, that is what makes it interesting. And of course Kawhi!!!

We're contending post TD. Everyone should be thankful. As I said in another thread I'd favor only GSW, the Clips (who are prlenty flawed and could impolode) and maybe the Cavs over this team. And we matchup better with Golden State more than most. Are we favored to win the le? No, not by a long shot. But is it possible? Sure.

Houston and others could give us trouble, but we'd be favored in a series with them and every other team not mentioned above. These are good times to be a Spurs fan, but it amazes me how few here realize it. Some guy was saying he'd rather watch a 40 win team who misses the playoff full of young guys. Really? You'd rather watch the current Lakers than us?

Give it up for the OP, I mean the team mom handing out Capri Suns and 2nd place ribbons after each loss.

The team is fools gold. They beat up on the JV teams and get their 55 games but wont get even 2 wins in the 2nd round. Spurs have too many holes defensively with Pop overplaying Parker and Gasol. At the same time, the Spurs have the hardest time manufacturing great looks out of any of the top 5-8 teams vs really good teams because they do not have an elite creator.

I said it in July and Ill say it again, Gasol was a waste of an offseason and just prolonged the real progress or steps the team needed to make. There was no point signing him if he cant play or stay on the court vs any of the top teams. Hes not good enough on offense anymore to negate how atrocious he is defensively. Spurs could have still won 53+ games without him. Now, Spurs have two ball and chains in Gasol & Parker that will weigh this team down from any real progress til the 2018/2019 season.

We see this every year.

I can see this team going on a run but their ceiling is limited. They're pretty much relying on Patty to play like a 2nd option every night and Manu/Parker to beat Father Time.
