Army All American OL Kerstetter from SA Reagan just flipped from Ok. St. to Texas!!!
So I live in the Reagan area literally about 4 miles from the high school and I know nothing about this kid. How good is Kerstetter? Where is he projected to play at? Who does he compare to?
9+ wins, take it to the bank.
Quote from TE Chase Rogers of Bay Saint Louis, MS (Rivals):
"I’ve been talking to Texas quite a bit. After the coaching change about two days later, Coach Meekins, the new tight ends coach at Texas texted me and told me to give him a call and he was telling me about how they think I’m their guy and I can come in a play early. They’re looking for a guy to split out not just be a traditional tight end and I think I fit that role well. The previous staff was going to offer me right before they left but they didn't want to not knowing if they were going to be there or not."

did he finally figure it out?
Going the JUCO route, I suppose?
24/7 saying CB Kobe Boyce will take his official visit to Texas on January 13th.
CB Josh Thompson will officially visit the following weekend on January 20th.
ATH Montrell Estell will make his official visit to UT on January 20th, per 24/7.
Quote from LB Levi Jones of Austin Westlake (24/7):
“Sam (Ehlinger) is my best friend but we’ve talked about this for a long time,” Jones told 247Sports. “I’ve always wanted to leave home or get away from home. With Texas, my brother (Cayleb Jones) went there. Like I said, I want to get away from home. It’s nothing against them or whatever.”
Who is our QB?
Shane Buechele, the true freshmen that threw for 3000 yards and 21 touchdowns. With a 136 QB rating.
He might have disappointed in the end of the season, but he will be a force over the next 3 seasons. Bank on that also.
I thought Herman wanted a running threat at QB? I thought that was a major part of his offense?
It might be, but you have to play the hand you are dealt.
Well Buechele isn't necessarily slow footed...and I think it was a major part because Ward was such an exceptional runner. Herman will still integrate some of his QB run stuff just not near as much as he did with Ward, obviously.
If Herman is as good of a coach as advertised he will be able to gear the offense towards the strengths of its skill players. Ward was elite as a running QB and a decent passer, so it made sense to get him as many opportunities in the open field as possible then use that to get him chances to throw it down the field. Buechele is an elite passer and a decent runner, so the opposite can be expected...where defenses get forced to sit back in coverage, giving Buechele opportunities via scrambles/designed runs to pick up yardage.
If Coach Herman is stuck in one offensive philosophy and can't adjust, then he has no business coaching at the Division I-A level, much less Texas.
He developed three QBs in one season and won a national championship with the third by killing Alabama on its way. He can develop QBs, just sit back and enjoy.
