Well said. And good job Davis. The Red Mamba torch has been passed.
Red Mamba Jr![]()
Davis is pretty funny

Dude looks to have a knack for drawing the four point play too
We need all these shooters running on all cylinders if we face the Warriors.
I'll repost this here for the curious. This is a Latvian speaker pronouncing Davis's full name. This is how it sounds in Riga.

And just for fun, here also is how to properly say Porzingis. The woman's voice is clearer.

New Yorkers will never get this.![]()
Not a surprise. He plays in blowouts, the Spurs haven't gotten blown out, so they're winning those games already. Also they haven't lost many games to begin with.
Pretty much how a Spanish speaker would pronounce it, tbh.
They're 13-3 in games where Bertans has played and scored 0 points. That's pretty good, too. They're only 3-4 in games where Bertans hasn't played at all.
Conclusion 1: Bertans should always get into the game.
Conclusion 2: Meaningless stat to begin with.
Should we start a poll?
It's like he only plays when the game is in hand or not in serious doubt.
Stein should stick to basic NBA news reporting..In-depth basketball analysis is not his thing..he is basically ESPN poor man's Woj..

Surprising people is going to get harder to do.
Can Bertans recruit Porzingis to the Spurs someday??
sasaint and I have been joking about that in a couple of threads.
KP will get sick of Knicks mismanagement eventually and the Spurs are the "place to go" for foreign players, but the new CBA would mean Kristaps would leave a massive amount of money to get out of NY. Won't happen on his first big contract, and by the second Pop and our special SA team culture will likely be gone.
But, I'd like to see how Porzingis would develop on a real team with a real plan and coaching staff. Fraid the Melo influence will stunt his development.
Hopefully Melo becomes jealous of Porz and tutor him to force a trade like how he did on Nuggets.
Is that the Durant exception? I wish you or somebody who knows about the new CBA would start a thread to explain/outline its terms. That is absolutely one of the things I hate most about the NBA. The CBA/Salary Cap is so arcane. I wish it were as straightforward as the NFL.
Haha. Yes. But how much better than to have Kawhi as an example of work ethic and access to Timmy for advice on life as big man, than Melo as an example. Ugh.
I'm no cap expert - Chinook - but I think when he's in his 8th through 10th year (ie. second contract beyond his rookie) he can make 100 million more by staying in NY. And Pop will be gone then anyway.
No chance of KP playing for the Spurs in his prime save a massive trade. And only trading Kawhi could fetch him. Because KP is so young, not even LMA plus picks would do it. (Unless Phil is an idiot). Not gonna happen.
Yes, all jesting aside, Kristaps will never be a Spur. Phil is no idiot - just stubborn like Pop. However, I am not sure how much longer he will stay in NY. He and Pop are such rivals that each may be trying to outlast the other. I wouldn't be surprised, tbh.
The Knicks could re-hire Isaiah Thomas as GM. It could happen.![]()
So Porzingis has to actual qualify for the Durant exception in order for him to be missing out on it. In that same way, Anthony Davis didn't really get more by extending with NO outside of the higher annual raises. He ended up not qualifying for the Rose-max. Kristaps would get more in that same way, but until he makes All-NBA teams or grabs some starting All-Star spots, he's not more than a regular max player whose team has Bird rights. The same is true of Cousins, I believe.
The general idea is true that most true star players probably aren't going to be hitting the market until their 12th-15th seasons.
