This needs to stop I think. We get that it happened, and LE can look at it all they like, and juries can look at it, but the goal of these ing clowns who commit these acts is to get as much exposure as possible. Stop showing the . I love how they say "be warned, this is shocking footage".. ok then stop showing it. Just say "police have the video evidence. Sure there will be a phone cam recording it most likely and the news wants to beat everyone to the punch for click revenue, but it's pretty telling of how ty our system is that you can become famous by face when MSM makes your contained act a worldwide spectacle.

I don't think we can do anything about it. Even if we individually boycott this or that media source, the guts and gore crowd will always tune in. This would have to be dealt with at the legislative level but then the FoIA would come into play and it would be released anyhow. The only thing I could imagine that might squelch it for a bit would be something that infringes upon civil liberties like the Patriot Act, if the at was considered to be terrorism.
Before anything though I think we'd need to agree it shouldn't be shown. It has the opposite effect that the MSM pretends to think it has.

Sure, we know it's human to want to see it but we want to see it for a different reason than they want to show it and they want to show it for a different reason than the shooter wanted them to. We all have our reasons, but reasons be damned, it's like negotiating fame with a suicide shooter. He gets 20 lives and fame and the MSM gets money, we get a brief moment to feel some form of shock and awe and are thankful we weren't there, then our little tryst into sympathy fades and we forget about it but the dude's name will live forever.
Think of all the people who know you. After you die, they will die relatively shortly thereafter and after a brief period (shorter for some than for others here) no one will remember you, ever again. Facing that fact, some choose to put their face and name into the annals of history by something as simple as a shooting spree. Yes it's simple. The guy could have walked in from the curb and did the same thing. He didn't need to check it in a bag, the baggage claim is accessible from the street and there are fewer people there than at the security checkpoint (and fewer guards as well).
It does make you wonder though if someone would do that to kill a specific person and disguise it as a shooting spree, ala "Jack Reacher".

It's a decision almost anyone could make given the right frame of mind, chemical imbalance and such. It's a foolish one though, because what he did will not change policy one bit.
