Once you start with Rathbone there is no other.
I was looking for a series to watch and Sherlock has incredible reviews. Is it as good as they say? I was never really in to Sherlock Holmes but might give this a try.
Once you start with Rathbone there is no other.
Sherlock has great actors.
I had to use the closed caption tho because of the thick English accent and jargon
In order to really enjoy the Jack Reacher, Tarzan, Alex Cross, John Carter, Conan, Solomon Kane, the Sacketts, King Kull, Moby movies ya need to have read the books.
You start with reading this...
A Study in Scarlet is an 1887 detective novel by British author Arthur Conan Doyle. Written in 1886, the story marks the first appearance of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, who would become two of the most famous characters in popular fiction. The book's le derives from a speech given by Holmes, an amateur detective, to his friend and chronicler Watson on the nature of his work, in which he describes the story's murder investigation as his "study in scarlet": "There's the scarlet thread of murder running through the colourless skein of life, and our duty is to unravel it, and isolate it, and expose every inch of it."[1]

Wrong as always. Jesus...if I'd read the Jack Reacher books first, I'd have never gotten past...Tom Cruise is 5'7"...Reacher was a big man...yep...
You'd also get the toothbush thing, understood buying clothes then when he changed he'd simply buy some more dumping what he had on. The wandering and his military service. Without reading the books you have no idea what was going on with any of that.
The guy is just wandering around and all he owns is.....a toothbrush. You'd also know about his thing for them old blues. In one of the books he is heading off to Georgia to see if he can figure out what did happen to Blind Blake (a 1920's bluesman who just disappeared). Obviously he gets side tracked and off into another adventure.
You don't get just how bad the Conan movies have been until ya read the books.
You...MUST..read "To Kill a Mockingbird" "East of Eden" "Gone With The Wind" and "Of Mice and Men" before watching the movie.
Hollywood totally blew Mary S eys classic "Frankenstein", but unless you've read the book how would ya know? They bombed on Bran Stokers "Dracula' but unless you've read the book how would ya know?
There is no Sherlock Holmes without the books. That's why ya start there.

I have watched the first couple episodes recently, and plan to watch more.
It is a very different take on Holmes, and Watson.
Watch at least the first episode if you are curious.
I probably will check a couple out. From what I heard, it's not something you'd binge watch anyway and that every episode pretty much has a beginning and ending. So something you could stretch out. (bend over, I'll show you something you can stretch out).
Another one I'm thinking about is Prime Suspect with Helen Mirran.
Did you know that Cesar Cielo of Brazil holds the record for 50m freestyle at 20.91 set in December of 09.
Sun Yang of China holds the 1500 m freestyle record at 14:31:02
Now think, slick. Are you so stupid to think that Sherlock could hold a candle to these guys?
Is it possible that Holmes could have ever run into Anna "The Sleaze" Sleznak while out on his adventures?
Who??!!! The inventor of POLKA music that's who.
Have you even ever heard of Frankie Yankovic and his Yanks? Happy Louie and Julcia's Polka Band? Six Fat Dutchmen?
Just like I thought. No class
The movie is called..."Elric of Melniborne" The opening scene shows this tall lean albino sitting on a thorne, by his side a huge sword. If you know nothing about the Elric stories you won't know about that sword. Stormbringer IS the Elric saga. A vampiric runeblake that must feed off blood or Elric weakens. Without reading the books you know none of that.
Your need to stay stupid amazes me.
It's not bad

I discovered the Conan stories long ago, talk about one of the truly amazing sagas, there it is. Robert E. Howard (Texan) totally nails it. When it comes to the sword & sorcery genre, it starts there. The stories and Howards style have you dying to get back to the book. The real....couldn't put it down.
So when Hollywood decided the bring the gigantic, brooding Cimmerian to the silver screen, all of us familiar with the stories were thrilled. Bummer the movie failed to capture the magic. Not Arnolds fault, he made a great Conan.
You know the movie was a fail because ya had read the books.
The movie is called ... "7 Faces of Dr. Lao". Doctor Lao brings a mysterious circus into town. He begins to control the minds of townfolk. At the same time a railroad wants to build right through the town and a wealthy rancher wants to take advantage of Lao's abilities to get the people to do what he wants them to do.
I remember that one. Although I could have sworn it was Peter Sellers that played him. Looked it up and maybe I'm confusing it with The Fiendish Plot of Dr. Fu Manchu. But I've seen both I'm sure.

Actually, this is where the movie came from. See ya learned something.
The Circus of Dr. Lao (1935) is a novel written by American newspaperman and writer Charles G. Finney and illustrated by Boris Artzybasheff. It won one of the inaugural National Book Awards: the Most Original Book of 1935.[1][2]
Actually, I already knew that.
Listen guy...it's good you learned something but how do you get from the book where Dr. Lao is around 130 and then...Tony Randal??! At least 170. It's why you read the book first. Lao was an athletic cat...a gymnast. And now Felix is supposed to be...that guy?!?! Trust me...you didn't enjoy the movie.
And ok guy...since you know "so" much...what's "the" middle school record for the 200 "meter"??
Always get a kick out of how people react knowing they are around someone with superior knowleage. The things they do to never say...."wow guy how do you do that?"......is comical.
Shut up, old man.
Only watched the first episode but it was fantastic
one of my top 5 favorite shows tbh
berbatch is awesome in it, and it's where i really appreciated him as an actor... though at this point he has basically been typecast as a narcissist/genius (khan, sherlock, imitation game, dr strange)
Made my bed with Elementary.
