GOATs respecting GOATs tbh.
http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports...rts-topstories"He's the greatest coach of all time. I've said that over and over and over. You've got to be to do what he's done in the era of basketball when it's changed so much and he's been able to have a growth mindset and be able to change with the game. He's continued to build around Timmy [Duncan] and Manu [Ginobili] and Tony [Parker] and bring pieces in and out throughout his whole tenure.
"It went from a league where it was like, inside/outside. Like every time you bring the ball down, throw it to the big. Then it goes to every time down, pick-and-roll. Then it goes to every time down, shoot a three. Pop has been able to adjust every single time and still somehow keep those guys under the radar. I don't understand that."
See, that's why that podcast about LeBron supposedly getting upset about Kawhi getting too much attention didn't play with me. LeBron has been pretty good about recognizing other players' and coaches' abilities. I'm not saying he isn't full of himself, but he's not usually one to talk down another player without some reason. I still think he probably made some off-handed comment, and that podcast jackass spun it for attention.
Yet when he mentioned the players Pop has built around, there's no Kawhi in there.![]()
I don't think anything Lebron said is particularly false, but i'm still pissed at the fact that he gets way too much credit for Duncan three championship rings.
It's all the cliche narrative now. Which is unfortunate. Great for Pop's brand but otherwise undervalues the players greatly.
Et tu, Chinook?
Nobody gives a what you're pissed about
Of course he didn't. Then he would've had to name all the other role players (Splitter, Paddy, Diaw, etc)
So what are the odds of me coming to your defense?![]()
Pop is a great coach, but with Tim, Tony, and Manu plus great role players like Robert Horry, Mario Elie, Steve Kerr... David Robinson? He definitely got a lot of help. I don't think he would have had the same level of success coaching in New Orleans. He always gives players credit, but it does feel a little like false modesty to me at times.
TBH, you used to have a half dozen threads on the front page every damn day. But you quit doing that . I'm not one to disregard a valid comment because of some other comment I didn't like.
But i thought he was the worst coach ever these days?
Micromanaging player/coach/GM recognizing Micromanaging coach
He's the 10th best ever. But the top 9 all post on this board.
It is fake modesty.
Pop wants everything to be about him.
What you should be pissed about is that you came all the way over here in the hull of that freighter thinking Obama was going to raise you and you get here and there's a wall of separation being erected between the 3rd world and the real world. You'd been Trumped.
Pop is the greatest, I agree with LeBron, but this is classic LeBron subtle shots, tbh
The true meaning of his comment:
1. Phil Jackson
2. Pat Riley
That and his best players weren't as good as theirs were, which is really the crux of all the Pop praise in general.
LeBron opting out next year to join Spurs tbh
I heard he's joining the Sixers next season. He wants to be apart of "The Process"
Another shot at Kawhi, "pieces"
Im sure he didn't even have him in mind. He only spoke about future HOF's
LeBron is very very calculated with everything he says. He didn't dis Kawhi obviously, but he purposely didn't mention him either.
