KD is a system player!
Imagine how better Kawhi numbers/efficiency would be if he actually has one elite PG/playmaker on this Spurs team spoonfeeding him practice shots a la Dominos..
Durant is hugely benefiting from space provided by the attention defenses give to the GOAT shooter (Curry) and another Top 5 all-time in that category (Klay)..He is also playing next to a top 3 playmaking big in Draymond and is staggered to play at least 8-10 minutes vs opponents benches each game..
And yet, Kawhi is still neck and neck with Durbeta in almost all scoring metrics while playing less minutes and a slower pace..
And the league guys get jealous he's getting some love ...![]()
Your video is not working my man, who is the smart man that said those words.
Golden State plays in a motion offense while the Spurs play in an ISO offense. Of course Durant has a lot more buckets courtesy of assists. So would Leonard.
Durant does not need to force anything in this system ... he still is the better (natural) scorer if both have the same players around them
Durant inflating his stats vs bench units
System player
Inflated efficiency
Treated like a role player by the defense![]()
Interesting question on who would be better if they switched teams. Durant is more talented offensively, but I think Kawhi is more efficient.

Great read. And Josh wrote it before the Cavs game....Just amazing![]()
The Spurs are in the bottom 3 teams in Iso frequency, so I don't know why did you say that, tbh.
god, this reeks of salty spurfan. It was a bull argument against Kawhi, and it's a bull argument against KD
Kawhi is the anti-Durant. He's like, the perfect antidote for Durant. In fact, I feel like we have the advantage in that matchup.
^ homerism aside, still think Durant is a more natural/explosive scorer (he has far more proven track record) , but as an overall player package it is pretty close between these two..
I think Kawhi will definitely surpass KD for good in general NBA public perception in a year or two when he hits his peak...
There is a really cool article questioning if the KingSlayer is in fact the best SF in the game this year on ESPN insider, but since it is an insider article I won't post it here but if you have Insider you should pick it up. It starts out with is he in the same league and finishes pondering if he is in fact the best this year. It is led Player Rankings: Has Lebron, Kawhi or KD been the best SF this year?
