Well there's a narrative that we don't have stars and that we only have system players.
How do you figure that his praise of the system is perpetuating anything and only crediting Pop? He's part of the system. This system has equated to one of the best teams in NBA history; stop watching ESPN and reading into the "narrative".

Is nothing more than a role player, and that's a fact.
I have been out for a few weeks. Come back and am disappointed this dude hasn't been deported yet. But we're only 2 days in. They didn't build Mexico City in 2 days....

Yeah, I guess no matter how much we hate it, Kawhi won't get his due until he racks up rings. But there is indeed a narrative out there that players like Kawhi are only system players that Pop makes look like a million bucks.

Could work. Celtics are in dire need of a PF, tbh... Zach Howe thinks they're a fringe contender. They'd probably do it.

Spurs get: Nets pick, Amir Johnson, Jerebko, James Young
Celtics get: Lamarcus Aldridge & Bryn Forbes

Throw away this season, but it'll give us a likely #1 pick to build along Kawhi and Murray in their primes. It will also take away LMA's 20M from the cap if we decide to after CP3 or Curry.
yeah Warriors could offer Curry 209/5, other team 130/4 or something in that range. Good luck with him leaving his team and 80 mil for you.

LMA's presence alone on both ends plays a huge factor to our success. Those of you asking to trade him are idiots.... our big bodys in the paint is what makes us so different from all the elite teams.

Thank god many of you are not GMs

LMA has not been as aggressive in the post as he probably should have been in the last few games, especially when Kawhi's not playing, but his defense has been impressive and he's also boxing out for teammates very well and not been whoring for rebounds, which brings his rebounding numbers down on paper, but has been a positive for the team.

Is he still backing his man down only to choke on the lay up or pass it out?

LMA is a major asset I just wish he had more of a killer instinct, demand the ball and relish punishing players in the paint. It might be a grass always greener aspect but he seemed like more of a monster when he was in Portland. Don't get me wrong he was never Russell Westbrook but at least I remember him demanding the ball more. Yes they had less talent up there but it is the at ude that I would like to see. He seems perfectly content to be a Pip, to the big 3's (originally) and now KingSlayer's Gladys Knight. I would prefer he take the stance of I am the 2nd best player on this team and everyone better recognize. Maybe that goes against the Pop get over yourself mantra but he needs some more 'nasty'.

Hmm currently shooting career high 73.4% from within 3 feet - better than Tyson Chandler and DeAndre Jordan who are spoonfed at the rim and 13% better than DeMarcus Cousins

    Not bad imo.

Well if he passes it out it doesn't count as a shot

But seriously, I think he's mostly successful backing down the defense and wish he was a bit more aggressive, but have no problem if he passes it out of a double team.

That. None rookie will be diffrence maker in 3 years. And also Murray also needs time to develop, it`s not that he will keep playing on same level as those 3 games. He`s 19 yrs old. Kawhi need like 3-4 years under Pop, Duncan, Gino, Parker to develop his game. LMA is good enough for the price, and he`s not signed for 5 more years.

Well, sure, he's also having a career high assists per 100 possessions. Passing out of the post generates some of the highest percentage 3 point shots off of catch and shoot. Tim Duncan used to be a master of gauging when to pass and when to attack, LMA is far from this level, of course, but he's a legitimate option to run the whole offense from. Efficient too. Oh, and also near career low on turnovers per 100 possessions.

He's too important to be moved this season, but I do wonder if he gets moved next year if there is, yet again, another round of turn over this summer.

    - Hard choice to make on Patty now with Murray being the apparent future and Forbes being groomed as the designated gunner: do you pay big money for a back up Pg and does Patty want that role?

    - if Gasol opts in, does Dedmon get an offer too rich to match?

    - how much will Simmons get, and do the Spurs match?

    - how much is a resurgent David Lee going to want/get?

    - and of course, does Manu retire?

If 3 or more of those 5 dudes leave, I start to see next season as a reload season and might make calls this summer/early fall about what I could get for LMA. That would give the receiving team at least one controlled year of LMA and the opportunity to pitch him on staying when his PO come up. Spurs ride with Pau as the main post threat, hand keys over to Murray, move TP to the bench, and start either Bertans/Kyle at the 4 next to Pau.
