The House Oversight Committee has gotten hold of an email confirming a Washington Post story about Donald Trump's plan to fire and replace all the Inspectors General of every government agency.
Luckily, the committee leadership has dug deep into this and confirmed that it's nothing to worry about:
House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) said that the White House had told him
the phone calls to inspectors general were a “mistake” and the work of a “junior person.”
The inspectors general were later told to disregard the initial calls.
“I want to let you know that I’ve spoken with the general counsel at the White House on this topic,” Chaffetz said. “I think it’s safe to say
that was a mistake, they wish it hadn’t happened, it’s not their approach, it’s not their intention.”LIE!!

The Washington Post reported on Wednesday that a scheduled hour-long call with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull went horribly awry when Trump used the call to brag about winning the election, and to balk at adhering to a refugee agreement that he made earlier.
Trump also told Turnbull that out of calls with four other world leaders that day, his conversation with the leader of Australia was “the worst call by far.”
According to the Post:
“This is the worst deal ever,” Trump fumed as Turnbull attempted to confirm that the United States would honor its pledge to take in 1,250 refugees from an Australian detention center.
Trump, who one day earlier had signed an executive order temporarily barring the admissions of refugees, complained that he was “going to get killed” politically and accused Australia of seeking to export the “next Boston bombers.”
Telling Turnbull he didn’t “want these people,” Trump hinted that it was his “intention” to honor the agreement signed at the Pentagon to accept 1,250 refugees, though the phrase was carefully worded so as to avoid having to follow through.
To honor the agreement, Turnbull said, all the U.S. would have to do was subject the 1,250 refugees to the normal nine-step process refugees normally have to endure before being accepted onto U.S. soil.
Trump, however, vowed to subject each refugee to his “extreme vetting” procedures alluded to in his controversial executive order. He then proceeded to end the call 35 minutes early.

Pentagon Points Finger of Blame at Trump
Some missions just go wrong. On its own I'm not sure we could draw more conclusions than that.
But the comments in the Reuters article make clear that some military officials are willing to point the finger of blame at the President.
Again, that is a big deal whether it is a fair characterization or not.

Before his breakfast meeting to mark Black History Month, Trump told DeVos, “Betsy, write down everything you know about black history so I can read it at the meeting. She took out a pen and did it in, like, three minutes. She’s fantastic.”
Impressed by the one-sentence summary that DeVos wrote about Frederick Douglass, Trump said that he was now considering Douglass for a top White House post.
“Based on what Betsy said about him, we could really use Fred’s energy around here,” Trump said.
He lashed out at the press for reporting that Frederick Douglass was dead, calling those reports “very unfair.”
“That’s a nasty thing to say about someone who is alive and doing a great job,” he said. “This is why the press is failing and they’re failing very, very badly.”

The United States Department of Labor (DOL) seems to have quietly taken down its website page for Wells Fargo’s employee complaints. As of this moment, it instead gives you this.
Senator Elizabeth Warren says she went to check up on where the Department of Labor was in its investigations into Wells Fargo’s fraudulent practices and business environment, and couldn’t find the Wells Fargo page. Sen. Warren sent a letter to the DOL for an update on the department’s status in regards to Wells Fargo.
“I am concerned that the Department of Labor has removed the website where Wells Fargo’s employees who were victims of the company’s fraudulent actions could file labor complaints or report illegal activity,” Warren wrote to acting Labor secretary Edward Hugler in the letter dated Thursday.
In September, the Labor Department said it started an investigation into Wells Fargo after the lender settled regulators’ claims that it created legions of unauthorized accounts for customers to reach sales targets. The complaint website was set up after Warren and a group of Democratic lawmakers asked the agency to look into whether the company violated wage and overtime rules while pushing branch workers to meet quotas.
In recent weeks, Wells Fargo employees have been coming out from the shadows to talk openly about the fraud-inspiring work environment fostered at the banking giant. But don’t worry, like everything else with this administration, no one knows anything about anything that’s happening with anything.
Steve Barr, a spokesman for the Labor Department, said the website was taken down on Jan. 9, before Trump’s inauguration.
He said he didn’t know the reason and that the
agency hasn’t been informed by the White House about how the new administration wants to proceed on investigating Wells Fargo.
“We have been given no direction from the current administration on matters involving Wells Fargo," Barr said.
