Bertans needs more minutes, too. In fact several of the young guns need more minutes - this game in particular.
Good move by Pop subbing Manu for Simmons with about 4-5 min to go in the 2nd.
Our players know to get to certain spots with Manu. It's also very tough on Danny without KL. Danny has to actually do more than he can with Simmons paired with Parker. We could have been down double figures without that subs ution.

Good observation. He seems much more aggressive playing with the second unit.
I mean, TP hasn't been great but the SL defended damn well overall and TP is the only starter shooting 50% with Kawhi out.
The ball has stuck sometimes but that was not because TP was taking bad shots or not moving. The SL offensively without Kawhi and Dedmon starting with Simmons is just not that talented offensively. Plus some guys just missed shot early like LMA.
Spurs actually got their FG% up to 50% by the end of the half. The fact that they only put up 36 of them is sort of a problem.
Tough to argue that for me when at the end of the day this team's bed will be made with defense and the defense did a damn fine job. They shot poorly and gave up too many points off of turnovers (11). If a few of just the good looks fall Spurs have a lead.
But I'm fine with giving Bertans minutes and Lee.
Oh, and I am not sure LMA and Pau is a great pairing, either. Common denominator? LMA.

I don't make any secret about liking Simmons. But I like him off the bench.
Loving Dedmon playing tonite tbh. Solid defense, active rebounding plus only 1 foul? That's awesome.

You see possessions gumming up, because the few things you can run are P&R, which the Grizz defend very well, or LMA postups... I'm not pinning that on TP, we're just a team very limited in the SL, and the majority of our offensive eggs are on Kawhi's basket... I think Pop tried to have more options with Simms, but it's hard when you're out there with TP or LMA to be taking contested shots...
Also, for all the good Manu and Lee did, Patty has been a no-show too. Some 3s from him could open up this game.

The offense has looked horrible with HERO handling the ball. Really well with Manu handling it. With that in mind, it was pretty idiotic to give HERO the ball and have Manu stand in the corner on that last possession to end the half. Those are irrefutable facts, tbh.

I would like to see Danny with the 2nd unit. I understand he's covering Conley, but offensively, he's asked to do things well outside his possibilities. Maybe play Bertrans at SF and Simmons or Murray at SG.

Pop could have started Kyle who has bee fine lately with Lamarcus, Danny and Tony... whether it be chemistry or whatever. He has lately played well when starting. Bad start to the season notwithstanding he has played well... there's just too much trolling among the fathead crew to acknowledge it and I am tired to even bring it up.

Kyle played his short stint well... Memphis might be one of the few teams that play so slow, that it doesn't matter for him, IMO... (and I'm not saying this in an insulting way)
