The NBA commisioner just announced a Partnership with 2k games to launch an e-sport league with each teams required to select 5 gamers for every team to represent them.
E-Sports is exploding right now so the NBA is trying to connect with newer audiances.
The games will be held in NBA areans with winners winning a significant but unannonced prize.
Also, according to reports these players can get salaries from the NBA teams they represent. And they will conduct practicies in their team arenas with teams providing them all the tools they need to successdd.

I've been sent all the way from HOT back to NBA... With a brief stay to the Euroleague. LMBO 2k is trash. He'll gaming all together is trash. People rely on flaws an glitches. All you have to do now is watch YouTube videos an they teach you everything.No way I'd make the team.

Not really sure. But yeah, teams will have their own representative of eplayers. Nothing is final yet in terms of structure though. We just know Silver and 2k are both committed to the idea.
So those nba2k ratings will matter more now that there is possibly money involved for NBA teams.
Just looked into it. Apparently there will be a virtual draft combine of some sorts and teams will draft the players who stand out. Theres only 150 spots too.
I'm not to sure if this will execute well though. Most of the 5v5 gameplay is just players using in game exploits and every avatar is a 99ovr demi god. It'd be a show for viewers.

1 vs 1 isbreally the way to go. One representative for each team.
At least with that setup, team can afford to pay then player plus the game would look much more fluid. Not sure if someone who actually played 2k has told the NBA about the tiness of 5 vs 5.

Getting paid to play videogames. If only I knew that would become an option when I was a teenager.
