So according to ESPN, Texas has the #1 Dline, #4 Linebacking, and #3 DB unit in the Big 12. If my math is good that gives us an average defensive ranking of 2.66 unit ranking.

By comparison Oklahoma has an average ranking of #4 dline, #3 linebacking, and #2 DB unit, for a ranking of 3.0 in conf.

    TCU #7, #2, #1, for an average of 3.33
    KSU #2, #1, #8, for an Average of 3.66
    OSU #3, #6, #4, for an average of 4.33
    WVU #8, #5, #5, for an average of 6.0

By the numbers Texas brings back the most talented defense in the Big 12. So the question begs, will it live up to the talent level this year. Frankly, I think we have the talent to have a top 20 defense, but as we all know, talent and performance don't always correlate.

It was in reference to the tweets TFloss posted on the previous page between Haines and Ehlinger.

    Off-topic, I apologize.

But does anyone else have issues getting to Spurstalk.com? Every time I try I get a huge warning and a message about Spurstalk being unsafe. I somehow managed to get through just now, but I can't visit other parts of this Board, so if there is a thread about the issues, could any of you send me the link?
Only can get on with my phone or pad, desktop blocks this site as deceptive or unsafe site. Usually due to ads tripping warnings. Happens a lot if site owners switch to certain types of ad providers.

just click details and proceed. ST has let their certificate lapse so it is no longer an Https approved site.
Depends on your settings, I am blocked and can't get to this site at all from desktops.

Makes little sense until you see how the youngsters do. Nice for off-season discussion but too many unknowns.

Just trying to create some good discussion on real football in February.

I think with both the proper buy in, and the fact that we have 2 coaches covering the secondary, I think our defense will be the best in the Big 12, but I also think the learning curve will cause us to lose two of our first 6 games. But I think we will go undefeated after that. And yes, I'm calling my shot.

The reason I specifically mentioned two coaches in the secondary is because over the last 2 seasons our secondary has given up a ton of points and yardage. I think having two coaches back there will really help the learning curve and give our DBs more one on one coaching opportunities. In other words, I think we will go into every game with better coached DBs than we had under Strong. I have no idea why we didn't do that in the past, especially playing in the pass happy big 12.

The timing of the spring game should work out perfectly as coaches can hit the road immediately the following Monday for the start of the spring evaluation period.
