If that happens the Spurs might as well blow it up and spend the next few years building up Murray/Bertans while letting Kawhi stat-pad and chase individual honors.
Nah, even with 2 super stars, they aren't clear cut favorites or anything. AD on a monster deal, Boogie due for one too. Jrue as well. They are so far away adding Boogie (while losing multiple picks and some players probably) doesn't guarantee anything.

Ya that tweet firmly takes SA out of the running it would seem. Spurs biggest bet would be SAC trying to get a star back (LMA) to try to not fully rebuild along with someone like Murray (young player) and pick(s).

The fact they just want to clear cap space and get young players + picks means the Spurs likely don't have the assets.

Would love for the to find a way to grab that eight-seed, though.

Oh yea . Bigs give GS trouble. Boogie/Cousins would definitley do the trick.

I mean, SA wasn't in the running, but it's not like they couldn't do a three-team deal. I'm sure teams would want LMA and be willing to offer quite a bit for him. If the Spurs wanted, they could redirect that along with some extra value of their own for Cousins. Wouldn't be surprised to see them having pretty similar values.

Maybe, but the Spurs don't have the picks and maybe the could route him elsewhere but Spurs don't have great picks or many intriguing young players outside of Bertans/Murray.

This is terrible; Kangs could do much better, but apparently the Celts are not interested ..

Dude - I mean are they that high on Buddy? When will they learn with these types (McLemore, etc..)? Spurs don't have the contracts to make anything work even though Murray =>Buddy (IMO). Picks are an issue too.

Also what a nightmare for SAC. They have literally gone on record saying they won't trade Boogie.

Yeah, but I would think that a number of teams (like supposedly Boston) don't really want to touch Cousins and would be willing to offer the players/picks SAC desires.

With picks from PHX and SA going to SAC, along with something from Minny. I wouldn't touch that with a 20-foot pole, but the Spurs take on "bad" money from SAC give them a lot of prospects in the deal. Unless there was a realistic chance someone like Lowry or Wall could sign with SA in 2018, I wouldn't be keen on making this move considering how close they are.

1m Sources: Kings, Lakers discussed parameters on Cousins deal in past 48 hours, but Sacramento ended talks in late afternoon. Pels are focus.

I definitely see what you're saying - really meant to say it's hard to have the no picks and get Cousins (IMO). Definitely possible in your scenario but really complicated with that many teams (as you know).

It's tough with Murray because SA desperately needs a PG for the future and it looks like they have a potential starter. But it's Cousins and Kawhi/Cousins talent/age wise are a legit chance for a long term core.

Cousins is getting so low-balled. Definitely seems like the Spurs could do LMA for him straight up, despite the talk about young players. If DMC wasn't such as POS, I'd be in favor. Would push for Gasol for Koufos and probably Bodganovic for Milutinov on top of that.

I was saying LMA + Murray for Cousins + Collison

As I said, I'd much rather have LMA over any of these young bigs who are on the market (Okafor, Cousins, Drummond). I don't think they'd have to give up Murray or Bertans, actually (I think Phoenix could throw in a little more depending on what the picks are, so Ulis seems like a good fit or even Knight if they want to move him).

I wouldn't. Would rather Mills and a first (and would hate that). Collison is a pending FA. While he would be a great backup, as long as Patty isn't moved, he'd be mostly wasted.

Cousins is a headcase, but he seems like a guy that is just immature but not neccecarily a bad teamate.

Hopefully he joins kawhi in 2019

Ya - If rumors of Boston not being interested are true (they have all the assets necessary) you have to think that it's because they don't like Cousins (at ude). LMA is not Cousins in that regard.

But SA is a damn good team already and guys on reasonable contracts. Need a legit starting guard (if Murray isn't it, or even if he is) but that can be attained under the current setup.

If Cousins gets moved and isn't going to re-sign automatically (who knows - that is what his agent is saying in the moment), that would setup nicely for the following FA.
